I'd be interested to hear how your dehydrator experiment works, because it sounds like that's one you'll take for the team.

I imagine they might work less well in the dehydrator, because what's actually happening in the microwave isn't dehydration. What comes out is oil, not water.

@Brunneria has mad very good kale crisps in the dehydrator. I have made kale crisps in the cauldron, sort of by mistake. I had cooked it in the usual way (for me) - 2 minutes on pressure, then release the pressure after about 2 minutes, then I lifted the steamer basket out of the pot and out of the heat/moisture, then got distracted by a phone call.
When I got back to it, the top layer were wonderful crisps, so I imagine if on taking the steamer basket out, I just spread the kale in a single layer to cool, the same would have been achieved.
It's good to experiment.
