What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hello all.

@Brunneria -- So sorry about your flu. Hope you feel better soon.
@zauberflote -- Agree, I miss beer too -- alas too carby. Once in a while I will have sip of my husband's. (In summer, it might even be a larger sip -- more like a third of his glass).

Today ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.

Lunch: A coconut-peanut butter soup with duck breast, celery, bell pepper and a small amount of carrots. Two of the coconut bites. Half of a low-carb flatbread with butter.

Dinner: Fried asparagus, turkey liver in a pastis-mustard cream sauce. Two heaped tablespoons of lupin bean hummus. Lamb's lettuce in a lime-mustard-orange oil dressing with feta cheese.

Was intending to make a chocolate hazelnut egg liqueur, but got kind of late. I used to love this cake, but haven't made it in more than ten years. It is actually quite low-carb, once you substitute erythritol for the sugar. So, planning to do this tomorrow.

D6CC1412-CE48-4288-ADFF-AB87308ADCB5.jpeg Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: 3 x cheese thins with paté, 3 x babybel cheeses, leafy salad, pork scratchings followed by a mini mince pie and extra thick cream.
Mid afternoon: a CCB and black coffee.
Dinner: lamb roasted with rosemary and garlic, one small roast potato, one small roast parsnip, cauliflower, brocolli, carrots and peas with gravy thickened with milled flax seed followed by low carb trifle.

Coffee at breakfast time
Small piece of cheddar and coffee for lunch
Dinner was some left over meat and veg from yesterday, followed by low carb trifle and plenty of mineral water.
Still have left over beef and turkey, so will be making some pies and curries for the freezer.
Back to normality tomorrow. Hoping to find a swimming session in one of the few opened sport centres.

Forgot my BGs yesterday but still bug fighting. Anyway bed was 7.4 FBG was 6.3 and weirdly bed last night was 6.3 FBG was also 6.3 - been fairly stable.
What am I doing here right now? Well thought I might as well. As many of you know I've had a pretty dreadful year. 6 family deaths , including a brother and a sister and my one surviving brother diagnosed with cancer (thankfully treatable). But on the plus side my brother is recovering well, my SIL and her husband were over from Australia in what had to have been one of our best summers in a long time, the other family members have returned from Australia and Manchester resulting in the family Christmas lunch out on the 23 December and finally after 10 months that lawyer has settled part of my brother's estate for the girls but charged a small fortune. I'm pretty much a glass half full type of person and there have been positives this year.
This morning though, Hubby kindly woke me at 3.50am to ask "was that the phone?" No it wasn't! It was someone's car alarm about a street away. I struggled to get back to sleep again. No 1 is recovering from his bug but now his Mum & Dad have gone down with it. So we are spending Christmas in glorious isolation.
Then we got up to no heating and no hot water. Thankfully it was just low pressure in the system which was easily rectified but I feel a new boiler coming our way soon. In the midst of this
B. Slice of Morrisons high protein wholemeal with pate pate. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream
L. Some of the M&S fishy stuff I got yesterday. Slice of their layered terrine, avocado , salmon and prawn starter, another couple of prawns and lettuce.
D. Later we'll have Turkey with GF chipolato and GF stuffing, home made sugar free cranberry sauce, roasted veg (including sprouts) and gravy. I also have LC creme brulee made which I'll have with berries and brandy creme. Add in a campari and soda (no gin), prosecco and one or two LC Baileys and I'll be happy to reflect on my year.
Before you think it's all bad news it's not! Final payment on our mortgage has been made and my nephew's wife has given birth to a little girl - Lydia Joy - After this year a little Joy was most welcome.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy festive season. Thank you for all the support and looking forward to solving the problem of LC pastry next year. xxx

Really good news about your final morgage payment. I remember that and it was the best feeling ever, also wonderful about little Lydia Joy.
I hadn’t realised you’d actually lost 6 people this year though, that’s awful.

We had a few emotional moments remembering loved ones, and they were mixed up with lovely happy moments as the newer family members marked their place in all our memories ( tonight’s game of musical chairs being one such event, when I was disqualified - accused of ‘bum hovering’ ) The circle of life.... one can get emotional and philosophical but we will always miss those we have lost.
Happy new year @maglil55 I hope next year is kinder to you.

I must not.
I must not.
I must not...............

The cauldron is on offer today *baxing Day sale) at £94.99, so that's a great price! Thing is; I want a baby one. :(

My daughter couldn’t believe it when I said I stayed up on Black Friday eve with a lot of the Facebook IP UK group to get the offer on IP - she said ‘but surely all those people have already got an IP’ Good point but I guess it becomes addictive, pretty much all our meals are cooked in it now. A baby one would complete the family!

Your trifle looks a lot better than mine - the jelly in mine went all milky looking, maybe it was still warm and dissolved some coconut or almond from the sponge? I dont know but that looks fabulous!

It was indeed six. Just seemed to be constant all year. An uncle, 3 cousins and my brother and sister. The mortgage would have been gone years ago had I not initiated the extension that cost more than the house and then had the accident which resulted in my injuries and my working life ending. Talk about timing .
Must admit it didn't feel like Christmas yesterday as we're used to these big family gatherings but the peace was nice.
Tomorrow, I'll need to go shopping for the new baby, take son and myself to recycling with a load of cardboard and Christmas paper. Happily they are all almost recovered from their bugs.
A very Happy New Year to you and yours. We're going out. It will be odd but nice to do something different. xx

Hope you both recover soon. xxx

Thanks. :D Feeling much better already, and no sign of any more fever, so v pleased about that.

Interesting day! Spent most of it sprawled on sofa with dogs and tv and Internet. And watched several episodes of Jamie Oliver telling everyone how easy it is to feed a family cheaply by giving then tiny protein portions and huge carb portions.

I don’t usually watch orthodox food tv because I find the carb pushing depressing, and I want to eat everything. But today was just depressing. No appetite to be tempted. ;)

Don’t see Oliver contributing much to the nation’s health, despite what I am sure are good intentions.

Oh, and I weighed myself, giardia (last Xmas) a year of carnivore) and this flu has shaved of 17 pounds in total. Am now the slimmest (but still obese) I have been in approx 25 years. And approx 75 pounds less than my heaviest in 2000. Slightly odd, since I don’t see any difference in the mirror, except more grey hair, lol

Bed 5.9 and FBG was also 5.9. Nipped out for a little while today just to see the boys and have a wander.
No 2 reckons Papa is a crazy wrapper. He puts so much tape on it is impossible to open. I'd bought him a T Shirt with a lump of coal on it but it had a face and a Santa hat. Simply stated - this is my present. To him though he told me Santa left him a T Shirt with a penguin on it that looked like a lump of coal?
B. 4 mini chipolatos, GF black pudding, 1 mushroom , 4 Santini tomatoes, 2 rashers back bacon and a fried egg. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
L. Nothing - went for a wander.
D. A repeat of yesterday. The M&S avocado/smoked salmon thingy. Turkey, GF pork chipolatos and stuffing, sprouts, 1/2 A roast potato and sugar free cranberry sauce. Low Carb creme brulee with raspberries. Need to order more inulin.
At least that the turkey etc done. Boys are coming to stay on Friday so I guess it will be pasta for them.
Heating is still functioning (touch wood).

I was like that earlier this year - didn't see it - until I realised my clothes were too big. So glad you're getting over it. xx

I’m not gonna lie - I have lost all track of what day it is - been awake 26hrs and with the time difference feel like I’ve eaten way too many meals but here goes:
Breakfast - smoked salmon, scrambled egg and spinach
Lunch - plane food - chicken tikka masala (left the rice) and a chunk of cheese
Snacks - 2 more chunks of cheese as pinched both my Hubby’s and daughters off their lunch tray.
More snacks - 2squares salted caramel green & blacks - was the lowest carb chocolate I could find in the airport
Dinner - plane food - magheritta pizza. Not sure it could actually be classed as pizza. It was strange and tiny and I wish I hadn’t bothered eating it
Dinner again just now - half a roast chicken with leeks and asparagus in a white wine sauce. One of those fancy restaurants where chips/potato’s/anything really classes a side you have to pay extra for so I ordered none and was more than happy with my chicken! Pudding is another 2 squares of the salted caramel chocolate now I’m back at the hotel. Had to retire early as poor Ellie actually fell asleep walking down the strip - legs just went and that’s it. No waking her- amazed she lasted this long with no sleep bless her! :)

@Brunneria congratulations on the weight loss!!
General question: what’s an IP? Definitely not Internet Provider lol
Bfast 1/2 avocado, boiled egg, coffee/soy/cream
Lunch 3 talk celery, 3 little slices my bread with large schmear almond butter, swiss cheese
Supper very early out with Mom: small salad, 4 oz-ish grilled salmon, two slices fried green tomato sans bread waaahhhh, and....<1/8 cup Chocolate Decadence ice cream.
2 mile walk later, post-walk BG 103/5.71 so keeping fingers crossed for the morning.
Snack some skyr, a pecan, 3-4 broken casher pieces

Well done on the weight slippage. 17lbs is a lot!

I know what you mean about the grey hairs. What bothers me mosy is that every year there's more of my Mother looking back at me, except that I have more greys than she ever, ever had (and she didn't colour her hair.)

Oh well. We get what we get when it comes to the genes. Yep, Dad was the greyer one, but I'm hoping to avoid the mild MPB, which my brother seems to have landed.
