What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

@Goonergal hows your mystery virus going? Hope it’s improving?
@DJC3 well done you re volunteering to help out the vulnerable wish you were near my mum! All mums neighbours are elderly and in worse health than she is. At 89 with asthma she goes every morning to get her paper and in addition for two of her younger but less fit neighbours and she feels that this should continue but I’m concerned. We are going up on Saturday so will have a chat - or as mum sees it we will be giving her a lecture! She goes to a working men’s club every weekend and when I suggested she cut back for a bit she said but she knew everyone and they only went to Benidorm not Italian ski resorts! We’ve got a way to go!
Well looks like that it's good that cruise was cancelled yesterday as according to Bojo’s advice mum shouldn’t be going on cruise so we are ahead of the game! Mums travel insurance policy said yesterday that they wouldn’t refund the policy but going to ring again tomorrow and ask again re govt advice which is that elderly shouldn’t be going on cruises .......
I definitely am reacting foodwise to current stress - albeit staying low carb I’m eating more quantity wise!
Breakfast scrambled egg and half a toasted chaffle
Lunch cheese and LC seeded crackers
Mid pm - stress/virus eating! Three squares of 95% chocolate and an online order put in to hotel chocolate!! Clearly getting to me. Determined to up my chocolate stocks!
Dinner lamb chops, stuffed mushrooms, halloumi chips salad and glass of red wine followed by lc dd chocolate raspberry brownie with cream and coffee.

Chocolate is always my go to stress food too. Not surprised you put in that order. Hope you get some joy with the refund.
Your mum’s reasoning about the folk at her club reminded me of a friend whose 87 yr old dad asked her to take him shopping to Tesco yesterday. He has just finished a course of chemo so will be very vulnerable and she refused to take him. He then asked if she’d take him to M&S instead ( where there might be a slightly posher coronavirus!)

Bed 6.6 FBG 5.6. A slightly better night but I still wake on and off with this cough. A thought, does that mean I should self isolate or not? It's not a new cough, I don't have a fever and I've been Ill for almost 5 days. I'm still up and down. One minute I feel so so and the next the congestion sets in again. Steam and Vic will continue. I just wish I had some energy. Everything is an effort.

D. What @DJC3 had earlier this week. The salmon fillet with green beans but I put 1/2 a sliced avocado through the beans. Also had 5 santini tomatoes, 1/2 mozzarella and a few walnuts. I also had a square of G&B mint.

Loads of water. I cancelled my Aqua today as well - no way I could have dealt with it plus I think they would have wanted a 2 meter exclusion zone around me.

Breakfast nut granola. CWC.
Lunch pastrami, salad coleslaw and one small piece of baguette with butter.
Dinner, pasta carefully counted 20 wholemeal penne. Served with bacon, mushroom and blue ch
Cheese sauce. Forgot to add mozzarella so sauce was a bit runny. Who am I kidding? It was like soup, but tasty. Far too much chocolate in the evening
Bedtime tea.

Morning all. Behind again. Very stressful day yesterday and this virus seems pretty determined to stick around.

@maglil55 I’m dropping off to sleep very easily too, but not at the right times! That cough sounds nasty, take care.
@shelley262 sounds a difficult situation with your mum. And I’m with you and @DJC3 on the stress/illness related consumption of chocolate (plus cream and nuts!).
@Rachox your farm shop lunch looked delicious and
@Brunneria you need a disguise for those steaks!

So yesterday started with cream, almond butter and salted almonds. Lunch was a carni pizza - am really fancying cheese at the moment, and dinner was some salami and Parma ham followed by a low carb hot chocolate made with lactofree milk and 100% chocolate drops.

Recurring theme here - forgetting to add mozzarella! I did just that yesterday and wondered why my dish didn’t have the gooey stringy bits as I scooped up a spoonful like the picture on diet doctor did. It should have contained substantial amounts of mozzarella.
Impressive control counting your 20 penne.

Sorry you are still suffering too. The guidelines do seem a bit woolly I agree. Good that you don’t have a fever though.
Did you have the salmon with the sambal olek ( I think it was called)? I couldn’t get that - local Coop doesn’t even sell smoked paprika as it’s too exotic, I used some Harissa paste instead. Very nice but I wonder what the difference would be?

Had a cunning plan but went to whatsit in a handcart. Breakfast: Both Sweetened and not, AMT; L: Costa Americano with cream: Afternoon: Chocologic Belgian dark and bag Mr Porky ; Eve: Cheese and potato pie (swede + celeriac topping), and broccoli - I needed stodge. Plan went awry. Mrs builder had pregnancy issues so all walls and doors intact. No lunch and mince for cottage pie not defrosted. Probably need to sleep in car the day before to ensure a space for school pickup. Eclectic mix of yummy mummies and mouldy old wrinklies abandoning 4 x 4s earlier and earlier.

@maglil55, I don't think my leggy problems are related at all to having a bug - either stewing or present. My main leg issue is simply arthritic wear and tear (knees, ankles, shoulders, hips, knuckles - but it's the knees that take most of the strain and cause most problems). I thought it might be weather related, but I can't see a pattern. I'm pretty sure it is related to the amount of time I spend on my feet in the day or so before they get bad. Recently though, something else is developing in my feet - that was the worst thing about the recent "attack".

At present my BG levels are pretty low most of the time (unless I take action to boost them, in which case it will shoot upwards at an alarming rate). This is in contrast to a week or so ago when whatever I did, I couldn't get the level down. This may be "bug" related. If so, it's another instance of me being odd - most people have high BG if they are sick or stressed.

Breakfast today - 2 eggs, scrambled. Just butter - no cream left and precious little milk either.
Lunch - portion of meatballs in tomato sauce with some coconut milk in the sauce.
Snack - 2 digestive biscuits, to get BG back to a sensible level. Used the last of the milk with a cup of tea.
Dinner will be what would normally be chicken pot pie filling (from the freezer).

My floor cleaning lady was in this morning and was telling me that the coronavirus has made it's presence felt on the Island - one woman who had come back from Italy a short time ago. But this is the Hebrides, where gossip is rife and nobody really allows the facts to get in the way of a good story, So who knows? She was also telling me that in the supermarket yesterday afternoon, an elderly lady behind her in the queue at the checkout had about 20 bottles of milk in her trolley. The checkout operator would not be allowed to let her buy all that, apparently. Tesco are rationing some products. Why on earth would anyone want 20 bottles of milk, unless they were holding a party of some sort?

No 2 son came in and told me that the supermarket had a delivery of toilet rolls and people were queuing outside the shop to get them. The whole delivery (don't know how many that was) was stripped from the shelves as soon as it was put out. The shop has now run out again. As I said, this is the Hebrides - panic buying is not unusual here. I asked No2 son to get me one bottle of milk, if he can so I can have tea over the weekend.

Hi all

Eating still a bit off but closer to normality today.

Pack of salted almonds early on for brekkie. Lunch was 2 eggs fried with a small tin of corned beef and some grated cheddar on top. Dinner was air fried ribeye steak - perfect timing advice @Brunneria - delicious. Stayed very juicy. One of these - a first try and will be buying again: https://www.lidl.co.uk/en/p/deluxe/deluxe-dry-aged-hereford-rib-eye-steak/p15410 Wasn’t quite large enough though, so just polished off some air fried bacon wrapped halloumi fries.

need to get me some of that Hereford dry aged steak! Looks delish!

Two cv 19 cases declared in Bewdley today - a couple returned from Italy!
Clearly we will all meet it eventually - just have to hope that we have mild versions.
Off to York’s tomorrow to help mum we both seem to be fit and well - albeit stressed - so sure shouldn’t be passing anything on and lots to do for mum - who is determinedly carrying on as normal - the ‘funniest’ story from her today, she goes to Wetherspoons every Thursday and last week I said to her she needed to wash her hands more as picking up glasses, cutlery etc. So asked her if this time she’d washed her hands before and after her meal as I asked her to and she said not before her scampi and chips - but she’d been careful not using her fork but used her hands instead! I despair at getting the message across! She’d gone on the bus and done some shopping before using her fingers for her meal! It is hard work at 89 walking backwards and forwards to loo to wash hands and so I’ve managed to get hold of some anti bac wipes to take to her in the am! I despair! I couldn’t even get onto the travel insurance helpline queue today they kept saying I was in the overflow queue so would need to keep ringing yet this was after I’d had to listen to two recorded messages yet again re current situation- so will refund mum so she’s not out of pocket and try again next week or maybe life is too short! In contrast my OCD autistic son is even more worried about his cleaning supplies and never stops washing his hands......
Breakfast bacon, egg and half a toasted chaffle
Lunch lc cheese scone and some vintage cheddar followed by a couple of hotel chocolate chocs
Dinner sea bream with chervil and lemon butter and glass dry white followed by lc lemon pudding and cream ( made a batch as taking some to mums)
Will be AWOL for a couple of days catch up when back.

Black coffee all morning
L: M&S king prawn cocktail 1/2 pot, with 1/2 avocado, lettuce and a sliver of smoked salmon. Then DGF brownie and cream.
Afternoon black coffee in Costa with a chum
D: gammon joint cooked in IP with cauliflower cheese and wilted spinach. Few strawberries and cream. Glass of red now.

Thanks for the hugs @ianpspurs. I think I'm on the mend although I didn't want to tell Hubby my throat is niggling again. He's still reeling from all the football being cancelled. I'm still surviving on Vic's vapour rub and hot showers. I did smile at the school pick up. I've had almost 5 years of that. It must be the same the world over. The only time we get peace from the abandonment of the Chelsea Tractors is when the traffic warden pays an early morning visit. They dump them everywhere. I pretty much have the timing right now but I have the boys well trained with a number of loudly spoken sentences - "Nana, I thought parking on the pavement on a corner was illegal. Should I tell the warden over there?" "Look at that person on double yellow and they're not disabled" "Isn't that person REALLY selfish leaving their car so the children can't see to cross". The little one is particularly good. Sure he swallowed a dictionary at age 1.

Bed 5.4 FBG 5.2. That steak looks excellent @Goonergal. I took my DIL to Lidl today as she was getting shopping for herself and 2 elderly neighbours but I wasn't in. She did however find the fishy noodles for me. Queue she told me was enormous as only the manager and a trainee came in. All the other staff phoned in sick to say they were self isolating! @DJC3 - no, sambal isn't the easiest to find. I would normally use a chilli paste but I kept it plain so I didn't irritate my throat/cough. Safe journey @shelley262. @Annb - I was curious. My legs are like an early warning system of approaching illness.
Not a good food day. My appetite has pretty much gone but I had to eat something. We did intend to have the DD stuffed cheesy chicken breast but neither of us were hungry.

L. Very late on - 2 slices Ox tongue, 6 prawns, the remaining salmon fillet from yesterday, 1/4 mozzarella, 5 santini tomatoes and 4 walnuts.
Loads of water again. Slept better last night. Hopefully the cough will settle enough to let me return to my own bed tomorrow.

Afternoon all. I hope all those under the weather, injured, travelling to visit family or decorating had the best day possible. I self isolated away from builders as I was feeling "off" and they need to work to pay bills/feed family. Menu is correct up to evening. Breakfast: Sweetened AMT; L: Water: Afternoon: CWC sf caramel, water, AMT + 2 slices Ox tongue ; Eve: Will probably be rehashed swede + celeriac cheese and potato pie (so much less warming than potato) added more cheese, kale, spinach broccoli then could be Chocologic Belgian dark choc grated into Greek yogurt and some raspberries. Need to use up defrosted mince but Julie isn’t a fan and she really disliked the swede and celeriac yesterday. Wall between kitchen and dining room gone and dining room door gone and re-plastered. The kitchen will be ripped out and remade next week. Then a break and gather costs for making the bathrooms fit for purpose (ours) - builder has other jobs. So much sympathy for you and Mr S L @SlimLizzy.
More cheese made it warmer!
