What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

On that subject I am not in favour of supermarket plans to remove best before dates on fridge items as I try to shop once a week and stuff with the longest date (eg cold meat) goes underneath or behind the ones needing eating first. Same with yogurt, bacon, etc.
It’s more the dairy for me - may well be what finally gets me off it. I’m all for reducing waste and often eat things well beyond ‘use by’ or ‘best before’ dates but apparently supermarkets are suggesting use of the ‘sniff test’. Well, that’s all very well at home, but I’m sure they don’t want me doing it before taking the stuff home :hilarious:.

Surely the production date could be added so that at least you can choose the newest one.

Anyway, back on topic. It’s a long time until dinner, so have polished off the almond butter with a bit of cream and had the dregs of some yogurt with raspberries.

A decent sized piece of pork has sat uncovered in the fridge over night and having been at room temperature for about an hour has just been coated in chilli oil and salt and is sitting for another hour or so before going on to the spit in the air fryer for a while. Here’s the ‘before’ picture.

Weekend of sailing.
As a rule, we (captain and deckhand) eat with the guests, and usually I don't because carbs.

We had a very long and beautiful sailing day, arriving at the harbour at 9pm, so the guests had cooked underway.
A very good green curry. They ate downstairs but no problem to bring us a plate, and no problem at all to leave out the rice for me, which meant they had unknowingly cooked a perfect low carb meal! :)

Having dinner while sailing in the sunset, doesn't get much better than that!

After docking I was just in time to take my dogs to the beach for a short swim before dark (I swam, dogs prefer to keep their bellies dry)!

That looks like the perfect day.

Not envious. Not one teenie, tiny bit, I lie.

Coffee and cream
Cottage cream and cucumber and tomato
Cheese and tomato
Smoked salmon

Under that symbol, I have 3 possibilities: Horizontal line, Spoiler (which lets me key in something or other) and Code. Not helpful to me. The only one of those that I know is horizontal line, although I don't know when I would use it (see below - it's very feint). Perhaps your display is different.

Yes, I do have those ones as well but they are on the "Reply" window, not on the response options to an individual post. I daresay it will sort itself out eventually but I do like to give a hug or a winner, friendly, etc not just a like, a love, a laugh, a wow, sad or angry. Don't think angry is needed in this context, so a different one could be offered instead.

Just had my mince, but had a couple of fried eggs on top because Em was here, pretty well all day and I was despairing of anyone coming to collect her. Just as I put the eggs in the pan for her, her dad arrived to collect her, so they were left over. So I had them.

Been hanging around all day with a furry hood on to keep my sore jaw, ear and face warm - it only works with a big dose of codeine and paracetemol though, and that is only effective after an hour and lasts for an hour, so there is a 2 hour wait for the next dose.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and DGF cookie.
Tea at ILs: cold meat, cheese and salad buffet followed by one Jaffa cake!

B: 3 scrambled eggs
Walk with a friend
L: some Blackstones blue cheese on seedy crackers. 2 sqs 85% chocolate
D: mince, served on green beans with 2 tablespoons lentils. 1 small ice cream

Most lids come of the pies we get from pie shops lift off with help of a knife, I wish I had @Rachox's self restraint by not eating the bottom pastry though. :woot:
It was easy, it was a quiche so had no top layer of pastry, then I just looked on the pastry case as a dish holding the egg and bacon mix!

Couple of slices of cheese on toast, so I had something in my gut so I coud take my medications, plus a extra Tranexmic Acid tablet to help stop the bleeding that started up again during the night.
Salad sandwich for lunch.
Chicken Laksa soup with a scoop of mashed spuds stirred in for supper at six, couple more Tran' Acid tablets for supper at.six.

No single malt tonight, so it will help stop the bleed, it might be time for a review for my Fentanyl 50 mcg patches to increase the strenth of them the oxycodone 10 mg are not lasting as long.

What have I eaten over the past week?? Way behind.

Monday 29 August - bed and FBG both 7.9. Usual school run,, shops then straight to the chiropodist.

B. TAG and a bit crustless quiche. No time for anything else.

L. Nothing - grandson here as normal for lunch

D. Leftover cold cuts - pork & egg, ham, roast beef, smoked chicken and the leftover celeriac dauphinois. OK it's a bit odd but I didn't want to waste it. I had a DGF Lemon drizzle cake at some point.

Tuesday 30 August - bed 7 5 FBG 7 .2

Another busy day.

B. TAG and yet another bit crustless quiche (I need this grab and go breakfast)

L. Nothing

D. In between running everyone to trampolines, M&S chicken katsu burger with an Emmental cheese slice and a salad of santini tomatoes, port salut and walnuts. Another DGF lemon drizzle.

Wednesday 31 August - bed 6.8 FBG 7.2

Boys here for dinner this evening and they inform me they wats spaghetti bolognese. Yet another trip to the supermarket for GF spaghetti.

B. TAG and the last bit of crustless quiche (must make more!)

D. While spaghetti bolognese was consumed by everyone else, I had a DGF pizza topped with tomato, mozzarella, salami, Italian herbs and a drizzle of olive oil. Vodka and diet coke once the boys were home.

Where did August go??

Where did August go??
Agreed, where did it go? In fact, where did the last year go? It might be one of the odd factors of old-age, but time definitely passes swiftly by for me. Might be because I've spent a lot of the year willing it to pass so that my brother would improve. But I'm sure that I've read somewhere about time passing faster as the body slows down, or was it something about in relation to the time that has already gone?

Breakfast was an odd, and odd looking, mixture. I had a little of the mince left over, but didn't think it was enough for a meal, so I chucked some eggs in and scrambled them in the mince. Very odd looking and, perhaps I should have added salt, but it was edible and fairly satisfying.

Still staying away from fibrous veggies so for my second meal will make something with slow cooked beef and some mushrooms. They shouldn't do too much damage.

Yesterday brunch (Sunday) grilled pork rasher with ratatouille. Dinner was steak and salad. Today's dinner will be leftover roast lamb cooked peasant-style (I do a lot of that) with tomatoes, aubergine, courgettes, spring onions, peppers, garlic, turmeric, chilli powder, vegetable stock cube, olive oil and possibly butter as well. I don't know what I'm having for brunch yet - probably a slice of ham (real ham from the butcher) maybe a piece of cheese if still hungry.

Haddock with mixed veg.
Coffee and cream
Cream cheese and tomato.

Forgot to mention...
In the supermarket earlier today, still in August, there were piles of big sharing tubs of chocolates and loads of party food in the freezers...
And a certain type of recipe is coming up on fb and other places
Yep, it's coming, just under 4 months.

Anyone else nostalgic for the days when we used to get harvest, then, autumn, then Halloween, then guy fawkes, then the big day?
It could be worse, they could have Easter Eggs on the shelves!
