What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Took a few Rennies and finally stopped feeling nauseous but it took a while before I felt even a little bit hungry. The only thing I really fancied though, was sardines on toast. It went down well and my stomach is grateful for it. Odd thing to have a fancy for but there's no accounting for ...

I'll stick to black coffee in future.

Sunday 16 October bed 6.3 FBG 6.5. Swimming lesson done ironing done final shop with son done Now maybe I can focus on what I need to do.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SLC toast with egg mayo.

L. Nothing - too busy with above.

D. I got one of these very thick rib eye steaks which do 2 people. Had it with the last king oyster mushroom, spinach, santini tomatoes, cauliflower cheese and mustard. Usual campari and soda.

Oh, I forgot earlier I had a grenade ice cream bar. I've discovered that if I have this (or the coconut bar etc( before 8 pm, then my BGs don't react as much and drop to more normal levels at bedtime.

Had to chuckle about the Campari and soda. Haven't tried a drink yet. Hope it was good.

Still a pot of double cream left, despite the mushroom sauce and repeated pot licking when passing the fridge.
So I borrowed my friend's ice cream maker and see what I can do with it tomorrow!
Made a very tasty low carb chocolate and nut icecream. Which meant lots of tasting and implement licking during the afternoon, served nicely for food during the day, nothing else needed! :joyful:

I only went to bed at 5 PM last night because of coming home in the middle of the night after the concert and needing to wind down. So quite 'hungover' today, especially with the lingering cold too.
Was going to cook but didn't. Instead I had a very tasty sandwich for my evening meal with a mixture of 'ossenworst', a pickled egg, a raw chopped onion, mayonnaise, aioli and some English pickles bought on my holiday. No idea what's in it, it's dark brown lumpy stuff, tastes amazing!

No picture, because as good as it tasted, it absolutely looked revolting! :hilarious:

We've moved onto Chicago City and had to be up early to return the hire car by 9.
Found a breakfast place very close by which is just as well as it's freezing, only 5 ° and very windy. Saw some kindergarten children out for a walk blown over like nine pins!
Ordered an omelette . Forgot to say "hold the sides "
breakfast out 22.jpg
Left most of the hash browns and ate just 2 mouthfuls of the pancake which I had been hankering for
As usual, it didn't come up to memories . it tasted of baking powder and not much else. The maple syrup was good but too sweet so stuck at just the 2 mouthfuls.
The "meat lovers" omelette was 4 eggs and very filling

Nothing else since
Except 2 glasses single malt

(Hubbys breakfast was 2 poached eggs benedict with avocado, with hash browns. He's had a plate of cheese and crackers for supper)

Hoping we adapt to the cold as it was so bitter we've been mostly inside today.
Forecast is better after a couple of days

Morning all. Not doing very well healthwise atm. Had my op and all seems to be well in that respect but have other problems now. I don't like getting old!!! @ANTJE, that sounds like Branston pickle, it's dark brown and lumpy and for me too, tastes amazing but I stick to a tablespoonful. Have had a slice of cheese for brekkie. Having fried eggs on ham for lunch and prawn cocktail for tea with 2 very buttered Ryvitas. In between will probably have 2 squares of Divine raspberry 70% chocolate. Have a good day everyone.

Well on our way but a while to go. Wishing I had brought food. Passed on breakfast on the train in favour of lunch. Only thing I could eat was a chicken dish made with thighs, pancetta and a sauce that was a bit heavy on the tarragon. Everything else was a no no. To be fair it tasted not bad.currently on my second vodka and 3rd bottle of water. A fuller account later.

Neil found some very cute and very small pumpkins when he went shopping. There is one orange one about 3 inches diameter, one orange one about 4 inches diameter and a pale yellow one about 5 inches diameter. I'm not really sure how to cook them. Does anyone have experience of cooking mini pumpkins? I could roast them whole and them hollow them out and fill with something or other, I suppose. But that's not very exciting. Any ideas in that great culinary network out there?

Breakfast at 8 am: Marmite on a well buttered end slice from a white loaf. Tea
12.30 Coffee - just black to avoid nausea. Didn't work. Neil thinks coffee shouldn't be taken on an empty stomach - he might be right. I guess my stomach wasn't very full.
4.50 pm: mushrooms and onions fried in a lot of butter and finished with double cream. Tum not too happy with that - a bit rich maybe - but I think it'll be allright. Cup of tea to try to settle it down.
Perhaps, just now, my stomach is just being a bit bad tempered and not being pleased with anything I do. Not the end of the world.
Em just phoned to ask if she could come for a sleepover tonight. More bacon will be eaten, I expect.

Three black coffees, two small and quite green bananas, four pecans and five walnuts. Dinner will be veg with airfried chicken breasts, Might have yoghurt with fruit for pudding. Shame peaches and nectarines are out of season now in the UK, bought some plums and pears yesterday as alternatives. BG currently 4.2

@Antje77 , if you have a look on line, there are lots of recipes for "almost" Branston Pickle. Looking at them I was surprised there's no tamarind in them. Not exactly low carb, but I guess it all depends where your off button is set, in terms of portion sizes.

My goodness that is one helluva breakfast! Did the hash browns and pancakes actually come as part of the meal? I think I’d have had to have a couple of mouthfuls too. The omelette looks good though.

I had a small pumpkin/squash last year, I think mine was a patty pan squash. I looked on line and it seemed that roasting was the best option, I didn’t like it at all though. Good luck with yours, sorry I can’t be of help.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a phd bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a PE protein bar.
Dinner: salmon fillets with hollandaise sauce, brussels, broccoli and carrot followed by SF cherry jelly and cream.

Quick post before GBBO
Breakfast was scrambled eggs with cream ( @Antje77 if you have any cream left, add it to scrambled eggs while cooking - gorgeous)
L- SLC toast with M&S smoked salmon and creamy cheese deli filler. Strawberries and 100% choc.
D- Slow cooker beef stew with a big dollop of creme fraiche. Strawberries and more creme fraiche.

I had less than half a small tablespoon in my creative concoction, which gave the whole thing a strong and delicious flavour so not too worried about the carbs that added to my otherwise low carb meal. :)
And at this rate, the pot will last me a long time, I expect it keeps well as long as I only use clean spoons.

Today I'm trying my luck a bit more. Brussels sprouts with the last of the creamy mushroom sauce is easy but the schnitzel is a complete gamble!
It's breaded but the breading looked quite thin, and it also looked delicious so I decided to try and see what would happen.
Butcher bought so no carb count on the package to make things even more adventurous.

Went with 4 units (a low dose for me because I was in the 5's and dropping) 45 minutes ago right before eating, dropped to 4.2 first, now at 4.8. Expecting more of a rise in the next couple of hours but no idea really.
It's one of those days where diabetes makes it possible to have a very satisfying YOLO vibe from a simple thing like eating a schnitzel on an otherwise pretty rubbish day! :joyful:
Realising this made me giggle too, what an unexpected

Still on my binge. So tonight went to the local Chinese (to celebrate) my lower HbaIc And then asked the assistant if they had anything really low carb. 'Only
Chips' she said. Then choose pork and mushrooms and asked her just in case to ask the Manager if it was low carbs. She came b back and said 'It is all carbs'.Well if they don't try and look after their customers, their fault so less customers. Ended in the Indian next door and had a lovelly Tandoori.
