What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Black coffee and black tea all morning before annual diabetes check with a very disinterested nurse. When I told her I’d been in remission 5 yrs she replied “ahh, bless you” I’m not sure she was even listening.
L- rest of yesterday’s chicken in a DGF wrap followed by a DGF Notella egg. I love these.
D- Stew of beef shin on a bed of spring greens and cauli. 1 slice Schneiderbrot that needed using up.
Will stick to fresh ginger and turmeric tea all evening.

@Annb I’ll be interested to know how your cauli pickle turns out. Do you have a recipe, or is it your own invention? I miss piccalilli.
Get well soon @Stardew
@maglil55 have those chicken shawarma kebab things appeared back in M&S? I like the sound of the spicy buffalo burger. How many carbs? View attachment 60694
I saw the chicken shawarma on the shelves last Saturday. There's the new one I mentioned as well, Asian Chicken Wings kebab. I love this time of year with M&S. There is just so much that is suitable for us. Admittedly, you have to watch some of the glazes, but it is good variety.

Buffalo chicken burgers - it's 6g carbs per 100g, but the burger is a little bit more than 100g. I don't have the packaging now, but I'd reckon about 7g per burger. It comes with a blue cheese dressing, which I know you'd like. I just can't manage to like blue cheese things! Believe me, I've tried multiple times!

@DJC3 hope results continue good and in range presume today's was the check and blood draw? Yes I think the ahh bless you is the standard response a bit like agreeing without worrying about really listening. She's too used to majority of diabetes type 2 patients getting worse despite following official advice.
Also lots of hugs to you for yesterday's car bill shock I felt for you.
Edit to add my new avatar is tulips in my garden planted last September after mums funeral love the yellow stripey ones and mum would have too.
I have to agree with that. At my post, blood draw face to face a month ago. She looked quite surprised when I refused to up my medication and told her 3 months of illness can be expected to increase slightly the HbA1c. My efforts are focused on decreasing meds, not increasing them. At least it gets them to pay attention when you rebel!

Thursday 4 May - bed 6.6 FBG 6.3. Nice to see you back, @SlimLizzy! @Rachox, I hope the op went well and you're back home today.

B. TAG and the last of the Ploughman's Pate on SRSLY toast. Benecol dairy free.

L. 2 slices of SRSLY fruit loaf with Benecol spread.

D. Back to my favoured sea bass with crispy skin, together with the last of the exotic mushrooms, tomato, and spinach. CC little chocolate pot.20230504_190032.jpg

Bacon and egg for breakfast again - this time in the form of an omelette.
2nd meal will be lamb chump chops with some spicy sauce and some sort of cabbage dish. I only have a little bit of cabbage left so will have to add something to it to fill it out. Not more bacon. Some other veg - have to see what there is in the fridge.

Neil bought me some goat's cheese this morning - that might go nicely with my cauliflower pickle, but not today.

Trying to decide what to do for food on Monday. We don't know yet when the cruise ship will be docking, so don't know what meal(s) to cater for. Pasta Bolognese is in the freezer. Cauliflower ready to make cauli cheese. Cooked potatoes in the freezer. Salad stuff in the fridge plus ham and cheese. Salmon ready to cook. Eggs available to make egg mayo or Russian eggs. Shop made wholemeal bread in the larder. Later, will make a lemon cake and brownies. Shortbread tomorrow. Scones on Monday morning first thing. Plenty available, but what to do? I'll think about it while I am (at last) folding the mountain of dried washing and putting it away.

Low fasting blood so decided I'd do another day using recommended hacks from the Glucose Goddess @RosemaryJackson I've sent for book too.
10 ish decided to delay kefir till later and went for a recommended savoury breakfast of two fried eggs on one slice of LC toast
Lunch started with a portion of sauerkraut and a few olives then a portion of my hm LC quiche followed by an Apple peel and portion of kefir plus a few squares of100% chocolate
15 mins before dinner had my tablespoon of fermented Apple Cider Vinegar in soda water with ice and lemon and then small pre dinner portion of sauerkraut and a few olives. Ate dinner as follows local asparagus cooked in olive oil then salmon in lemon butter then a few pre cooked and frozen new potatoes cooked in olive oil. Also had glass of dry white wine followed by low carb cake and decaffeinated coffee. Doing my post dinner bg reading in about an hour - will be interesting to see if any impact from the hacks. Will edit later to share results. Edit bgs a bit lower than usual so going to stick at the AVC and vegetables first for a few more days to see if continues.

It's an aspic jelly on top, a sharp cheese centre, and a pate on the bottom. It's really nice tasted. First time I've seen it in Tesco, so I don't know if it is special for the Coronation or a new summer item. I'll look to see if there is any clarity on it next time I'm in (which is frequent thanks to son!)
@Annb I was in this afternoon (having squeezed through the crowds for the race meeting), and it's all gone! Hopefully, it returns.

Sea bass looks fab again @maglil55 I haven’t managed to get to the fish warehouse this week , I’m determined to crack the crispy skin. Thanks for the M&S tip offs too.
Todays food:
B- egg/ham/cheese muffin
L-
D- pasture fed beef strips stir fried with ginger, garlic, peppers, mushrooms and spring onions. Served with ( a first for me) frozen microwave bag of cauli rice from Iceland. I’m sure everyone else here knows about it but I’ve never tried it (I always just grate fresh cauli) I was impressed, very quick and didn’t pong. Couple of glasses of red wine.
@Rachox I hope all went well today.

Friday 5 May bed 6.1 FBG 6.6. Eldest was happy this morning. 1/2 day Friday became an outing with the group to the Lagoons. Thankfully, the rain went away. Town was mobbed today as a race meeting was on. Getting about on a race day can be challenging.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and whipped cheese. Benecol dairy free

L. 2 slices of SRSLY fruit loaf with Benecol spread.

D. GF sausages with mustard, fried egg, tomato, and fried cauliflower. CC little chocolate pot with raspberries.

Meant to say, I finally got back to swimming and aquafit yesterday. It was weird not needing specs in the pool to be able to see. I'll need some work. I can still grab my right foot to stretch it upwards, but the left was not obliging! Nice to be welcomed back, too. I've missed it.

Just remember to score and salt. I'm heading up to M&S later in the afternoon tomorrow, so I'll see if any other new additions have arrived.

B: 3 scrambled eggs
L: 2 hard boiled eggs with mayo. Few almonds
D: curry out. Shared starter with boy, chilli fried mussels. Had second starter as a main, chichen U, a special dry curry they do. 1 glass white wine and soda.
When home, coffee ice cream

Today was a mixed bag, I wasn’t hungry mostly but then turned into a hunger monster around 6pm.

So today was

Breakfast/Lunch - some chicken and cheese cubes
Dinner - huuuuge mixed lettuce salad, few tomato slices, few slices of mixed peppers, with Cajun spice chicken and garlic yoghurt. Had two chicken breasts though as I felt so hungry.

I started Novomix 30 insulin today so not sure if that sparked the increase in appetite or maybe I’m hormonal.

Morning all. Yesterday I had hm beef stew with red cabbage but before I ate it, I had a small portion of steamed broccoli. Before my tea, I had a tumbler of water with 2 teaspoons of ACV in it. These are ideas (hacks) from the Glucose Goddess to stabilise blood sugar. I am definitely going to give it a try because it makes sense. I'll let you know if it helps me. I have no idea what I'm going to eat today! Just had cwc so am not hungry yet. Have a great day everyone and a happy bank holiday :)

Going out today - a handful of us are meeting at a friend's to watch the Coronation. There will be lots of diabetic-unfriendly food. So although I don't normally have breakfast, I have eaten a piece of cheese to stop hunger pangs later, and am bringing another piece to the festivities in case I stay for the fly-past (I do hope this happens). I am bringing a bottle of champagne and will have a small glass. Therefore I won't be tempted/stressed at all by all the food/drink that would do me harm. It'll be fun.
