What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

You can just Google for instance “carbs in cauliflower” or use an app. I use Nutracheck.
Many thanks@Rachox. That info/ link is very useful. I have been avoiding too many obvious carbs for a while but have never understood how people quote how many grams they eat per day. I will investgate Nutracheck. Thanks again and best wishes. :)

I like nutritionvalue.org but it is American so you need to be familiar with their units/ terminology and be aware that they include "fiber" in "total carbs". Or I go to a supermarket website and find a similar item, but they don't always give nutritional info for fruit & veg.

Could someone advise me please. If you eat only fresh, not packeted food how do you calculate how many carbs are in your meals? Thank you.
I'd recommend you look at the wonderful charts for carb content on diet doctor

They cover many real foods and are a great way to build up a meal with low carb ingredients.
Also all their recipes are carb counted and you can access a lot of their info for free.

Breakfast kefir then two poached eggs on low carb toast

Coffee and cream
Coleslaw and tomatoes
Breast of chicken and more tomatoes

Today for lunch I had sardines in olive oil with lemon & herb Halkidiki olives. And I wasn't very hungry this evening so I had half a pork pie, an apple and a handful of mixed nuts.

Many thanks for the information@shelley262. I will definitely look up diet doctor. :)

It’s quite forgiving - I used a packet of corned beef slices (0g carb) but tinned would do too - just slice and press into the base and sides of a pie dish.
Filling is a 250g cottage cheese mixed with 4 beaten eggs and any extras you fancy ( I added onion salt and garlic powder, chives or chopped pepper would be nice too)
Top with more grated cheese
Bake at 190 for 1/2 hr or so
( the numbers have rubbed off my oven temp dial so I just guess and it’s worked well each time I’ve made it)
My oven dial is the same ...always a bit of guess work

Coffee and cream
Coffee and unsweetened almond milk
Vanilla ice cream
Strawberries and sour cream and cream
Cheese cherry tomatoes

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and another carb killa bar.
Dinner: scrambled egg on Marmite on low carb toast.

Strawberries and sour cream and cream
Intriguing, I've never thought of sour cream with fresh fruit but obviously it works in a cheesecake.

I accidentally had strawberries with plain kefir yogurt this week owing to a miscommunication with hubby, it was ok but I don't think I'd eat them together again.

Yesterday was a bit carbier than I'd like so won't post details. Back on track hopefully today with:

Scotch egg and coleslaw

Cauliflower and broccoli cheese with mushrooms and bacon, inspired by a Hairy Bikers recipe

Prawns with spinach mornay

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and another carb killa bar.
Dinner: low carb cheese tomato and mushroom pizza with coleslaw.

Just black coffee this morning then off for my morning stint at the hospital coffee shop.
The person who was supposed to be coming in to relieve me at lunchtime was ill so I stayed for the afternoon. Luckily I had an emergency packet of pork scratchings in my bag so that was lunch.
Dinner was turkey curry. I’d slow cooked 3 frozen turkey legs a few days ago and batch frozen the pulled meat. I also batch cook and freeze curry sauce using this recipe https://ketodietapp.com/Blog/lchf/keto-curry-simmer-sauce it’s very easy and tasty. Meat and sauce then heated gently together. Served with cauliflower cooked in ghee with cumin.
