What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Having now eat the ones we bought, they are definitely just like Oomi noodles.

I looked for and found the protein noodles in Lidl today - not only in the fishy fridge, but on the very top shelf of said fridge. No wonder a shorty like me didn't notice them before.

As our meal plan this week doesn't accommodate the addition of noodles, MrB's issues with fish, and these didn't have a long date on the, I have lobbed them into the freezer. They look like they should freeze OK, although the packaging didn't mention it.

I'll have some when MrB is playing golf and I'm fending for myself. My constitution was built on the Clyde. I'll be fine.

If it turns out well I'll post a picture later :)
Here you go :)
Left the meat in the oven a little too long, so the marinade has gotten very dark and I lost more of the fat from the meat from melting that I like, but it still tasted very good!
I won't mind eating leftovers tomorrow :hungry:

Evenin’ All :D

Wonderful day today! We now have a safe and solid lowest 2 steps to our stairs. Still celebrating.
The lovely man who was supposed to replace those steps hurt his cruciate ligament just after xmas, and we have been waiting since then. Totally not his fault. We hung on because he is a fab guy with an even fabber work ethic.

anyway, stairs rock solid now. AND I got to see the deep internal structure of our house, down to foundations. :D:D:D

B: small lc hc
L: cheesy mince and Lidl’s protein noddles ;)
D: sirloin, air fried from frozen.

may have made a grave error with the steaks.
Mr B was hungry and expressed an interest in ’supervising’ the cooking. So he saw how quick and easy AND where in the freezer all my frozen steaks are stacked.

He then spent the evening saying things like ‘can’t believe it was that easy!’ And ‘so, you didn’t do anything special, did you? Just x mins at x temperature...’ and ‘didn’t take long, did it?’

I suspect that my steak stock is going to deplete rapidly. :(

I know what you're saying @Annb. I am regarded suspiciously with this cold, particularly the cough. I believe you've got your first case on the island now?
You're right though. It's exhausting.

Haven't heard of anyone on the Western Isles with the dreaded virus, but I did hear of someone on Shetland. Don't suppose it'll be long before it gets here anyway.

Hi All
Today was usual brekkie of LL toast, butter, lots tea.
Lunch on the run in the car was M&S rollitos.
Supper was meant to be Spag/Courgetti Bolognese but Mr PM’s tum not up to it so will be tomorrow. So Cheese & Tomato omelette for me. Fish Fingers probs for Mr PM.

Hope Mr PM feels better soon.

@Goonergal - I'm falling asleep at the drop of a hat and at all the wrong times. I honestly thought I was on the mend today but I went downhill again in the afternoon. I've just had a hot shower which has eased the congestion a bit, applied a layer of Vic and will dose up on paracetamol and hope for the best. Hope you are progressing well and @Annb & Mr PM - seems to be a few of us off colour. @Chook - nice to hear from you again and I so hope they find some treatment to give you relief. @shelley262- sorry about your Mum's trip but probably wise in the circumstances. I have to wonder at all these people buying up all the hand sanitiser. I always have it at ever sink because I had siblings with poor immunity. If they are clearing the shelves, what did they do before?
Yesterday - bed 7.2 FBG 6.4. Rotten night. I've decanted into another bedroom to let Hubby get some sleep.
B. TAG
L. 2 slices ox tongue
D. Although it wasn't much work I knocked together the DD keto chicken caesar salad. Added 1/2 avocado and 4 mini beetroot to it. Cooked two chicken breasts and will keep one for tomorrow.

Today - bed 6.1 FBG 5.8 so at least they're improving.
B. TAG
L. Another 2 slices of ox tongue and 2 cheese triangles (Lidl's and they taste the same as Dairylea).
D. Same as yesterday the DD chicken caesar with 1/2 avocado and mini beets. It was all I could do to get it on a plate. BGs were 4.2 and falling so I reckoned I had to eat something. Lots of water.

It was another really bad night. Throat is sore on the right only but cough is knocking me for six. I do feel better after a hot shower and bed now beckons.

In other news there has been a spate of burglaries. Police say householders should not leave their valuables in plain view. ES1UtSNXgAMgPkK.jpeg.jpg

5.15 am - FBG 5.2 - tea and co-codamol to try to get my legs working. Took a full dose this time - had to in order to be able to hobble around. Of course, I fell asleep again for about a couple of hours but the leg felt much better when I woke up. Been groggy and odd feeling all day though.
At least my cold symptoms have gone quiet.

BG at 8.30 up to 8.7 so took insulin and had some breakfast - some of the remaining fish pie from last night. BG dropped by 12.30 to 6.7 and then kept on dropping to 4.6 by 3.15. I checked at that point because I was feeling shaky, eyes going dim and quite warm. Felt like a hypo coming on, but it wasn't. Nevertheless, I decided to have a digestive biscuit to boost reading upwards. So much for the fasting - again. I'm thinking I may have to give up on it.

Still feeling pretty rotten and leg (only one was bad) sore again so I just hobbled around a bit and sat around a bit, feeling sorry for me and feeling rather sick, so I didn't make anything to eat but did have a small handful of peanuts - only settled my stomach for about 5 minutes. Found some Rennies in the medicines box - that helped for another 5 minutes. Decided on one more digestive with tea. Felt a bit better after that - BG up to 8.7.

It's odd - today felt like a hypo, but reading was 4.6.
The other day, at the clinic, BG 2.9 - definitely felt the hypo
Early morning on 4th March, BG 2.8 and I was totally unaware of it.
As I've said before - is a puzzlement.

Ian - Where are you finding your rhubarb? Ours looks great, but I'm nervy if I start harvesting too early it won't crop so well over the longer term.

I miss my stewed rhubarb at brekkers.
This was from the local market and farm shops also have it but very expensive there. Waitrose has some which is better than the market versions today. Before we moved - 5 weeks ago - ours was about ready. There would be a really good crop now.

Thanks Ian. I'll have to get my eyes peeled.

Since getting back, we've been a bit busy, one way or another. Our crowns are coming along nicely, but I'll get my eagle eyes onto the local market over the coming days.

Very sadly, two very good greengrocers' in our nearest town, closed in 2019. One, then the other, were my rhubarb top-up dealers.

I'm salivating at the thought of tart stewed rhubarb.

No greengrocers here but market in this town every Friday. Bury St Edmunds Weds and Sat Newmarket Tues and Sat so plenty of choice of markets. Rhubarb from garden and Greek yogurt with added flaxseed was my way in to this. Hope you find some rhubarb and your crowns deliver.

Our nearest town has an ancient market, Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with numerous greengrocers, plus we have a farmers market, once a month in town, and once a month in the village, so we are pretty fortunate.

Since the demise of the second greengrocer, our butcher has started doing a few vegetable packs, which look to be very good quality, but no fruit (as yet), and it hasn't been happening long enough for rhubarb.

I'll be schmooozing with the butcher later, so may ask about it.

This looks likely to be the outcome today (as @ 12.10) thanks to @Krystyna23040 and her breakfast plus the offer on the Kri Kri My 10% yogurt https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/kri-kri-my-authentic-greek-yogurt-10/549731-653496-653497 - I liked that with rhubarb last night. Breakfast: 2 x Tea +AM; L: Greek yogurt, ground flaxseed, inulin, raspberries : Afternoon: CWC+sf caramel ; Eve (early I hope): Very big mackerel and avocado salad with plenty of seeds (chia and whole flax) and plenty of vinaigrette. Pretty much back in time 4.7 years except I don't eat breakfast now so lunch would have been breaky. I might have breakfast sometimes when home improvements done and I start moving about properly (just not using a whole lot of energy atm and do so like being 73 kgs). It is the hardest meal for me to work out and often just makes me more hungry. Hope you are on the mend @Goonergal and fellow gooner Mr PM is restored. Hope your throat is on the mend @maglil55 and your hand is on the mend @Chook

Glad Mr PM is doing well @PenguinMum. Best wishes too for @Goonergal @Annb @Chook and @maglil55 hope you are all feeling a bit better.
Today was the usual bucket of black coffee this morning.
Lunch was smoked salmon, cream cheese, h/b egg and avocado salad. DGF brownie and cream afterwards.
Dinner : https://www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/keto-chicken-caprese-casserole which was jolly nice, but would probably have been even nicer had I remembered one of the key ingredients - mozzarella! I ended up chucking chunks on top after it was dished up.
Few blueberries afterwards.
I think a gin and soda is calling to me now.

Breakfast: Usual three egg, cheese and mushroom omelette, bacon, tomatoes, spudlite.
Lunch: Snag sandwiches with plenty of of hot mustard. (a sinus cleaning exercise)
Dinner: Corned silverside, veggies, onion sauce.

Drinks: Black coffee no sugars, water.

Cooked in the slow cooker for 6½ hours.

@Goonergal hows your mystery virus going? Hope it’s improving?
@DJC3 well done you re volunteering to help out the vulnerable wish you were near my mum! All mums neighbours are elderly and in worse health than she is. At 89 with asthma she goes every morning to get her paper and in addition for two of her younger but less fit neighbours and she feels that this should continue but I’m concerned. We are going up on Saturday so will have a chat - or as mum sees it we will be giving her a lecture! She goes to a working men’s club every weekend and when I suggested she cut back for a bit she said but she knew everyone and they only went to Benidorm not Italian ski resorts! We’ve got a way to go!
Well looks like that it's good that cruise was cancelled yesterday as according to Bojo’s advice mum shouldn’t be going on cruise so we are ahead of the game! Mums travel insurance policy said yesterday that they wouldn’t refund the policy but going to ring again tomorrow and ask again re govt advice which is that elderly shouldn’t be going on cruises .......
I definitely am reacting foodwise to current stress - albeit staying low carb I’m eating more quantity wise!
Breakfast scrambled egg and half a toasted chaffle
Lunch cheese and LC seeded crackers
Mid pm - stress/virus eating! Three squares of 95% chocolate and an online order put in to hotel chocolate!! Clearly getting to me. Determined to up my chocolate stocks!
Dinner lamb chops, stuffed mushrooms, halloumi chips salad and glass of red wine followed by lc dd chocolate raspberry brownie with cream and coffee.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: small portion of leftover fish pie followed by Greek yoghurt, coconut chia pudding and macadamia and coconut keto granola.
Mid afternoon: raspberry phd black coffee.
Dinner: sweet and sour chicken with cauliflower rice followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.
Off to my brother’s tomorrow for the weekend, I have briefed him on low carb eating so it will be interesting what he serves me!

6.30 am: FBG 3.6. Decided not to try to fast today since I started my day with 2 digestive biscuits (to bring BG up a bit).
8.50 am: had the remainder of the fish pie
12.30: avocado salad
6.15 pm: mug of green soup with a soda scone - that put my BG up to 14. Wasn't a good idea that.
The co-codamol yesterday must have been suppressing my cold symptoms - I'm sniffling a bit today - not too bad because I have only sneezed twice. Leg is better today, still hobbling but not quite so painful so I didn't need to take any more co-codamol. @maglil55, I hope you are feeling better now, or at least, getting there.

I'm just wondering @Annb if you are like me and the leg issues are worse if you have a bug stewing? My problem is nerve damage from the crushed spinal cord in the crash but, every time something is brewing "bug" wise, my legs react first. Have to say your BGs are very odd although I went low yesterday.
