Hi
I am finding now that things are getting very foggy in the NHS regarding the treatment, diet etc of people with type 2, which I myself suffer.
I have been type 2 for a decade, although a previous doctor failed to make a simple diagnoses after de facto evidence of classic type 2 symptoms...
I'm curious to see what everyone's first thoughts when they got diagnosed. When were you diagnosed, and how old were you. Thoughts about the present and the future.. needles and diet that would have to be followed, checking blood levels everyday for the rest of your life...
Let's see if there...
I have been taking Furosemide (diuretic) because I have a swollen foot and ankle. Nonetheless the swelling seems to be getting worse so I have now been prescribed Bumetanide instead. Both can raise bg. Has anyone had any experience of these two drugs and their effect on bg (and on oedema)?
Interesting list from Diatribe's Adam Brown.

Hi all
I’m a new member here - am officially undiagnosed but have been tracking my BG as type 2 runs in family and my mum has recently been diagnosed.
Most random tests have come back as 5.1-5.3 - however did my first fasting test this morning after an hour at the gym and it was 7.3. Is this a...
Hi everyone,
I've arrived in the UK (from New Zealand) and one of my Freestyle Libre sensors has been damaged.
Does anyone "out there" know where, or how, I can buy another one?
I asked a pharmacist in Boots and he wasn't sure they were sold in the UK yet.
I hope they are available here.
Can...
Hey
So I was only diagnosed with type one in September and before this diagnosis i didnt always eat breakfast, either because I would wake up too late or just because I'm not hungry in the mornings. This became my routine. But since I was put on fixed doses i felt like I absolutely had to eat...
Hi,
I am newly diagnosed T2 and just started my new life on a low carb diet within the last week or so. Been taking 1 x 500g Metformin per day but GP says to up it to 3 x 500mg per day from this week. Prior to 2 weeks ago my diet was high fat, high sugar, sedentary lifestyle and basically...
Hi all!
I finally got round to ordering the Freestyle Libre starter pack by abbot last week - it arrived on Monday and i couldn't wait to get it on!
Everything was going well until today (so two days after application), I noticed my arm is bleeding beneath the sensor and so the adhesive is all...
hi, I'm a thin and active 19 year old girl who hasn't been feeling great, so I've been testing my blood sugar as diabetes type 2 runs in my family. I've noticed that for up to an hour and a half of eating bread and pasta, my blood sugar is as high as 180. It's always below 140 after 2ish hours...
Hi!
I was diagnosed with Type 1 back in January, and I still have this fear of testing my Blood Glucose in public (injecting I feel fine with - weirdly).
I've seen a lot of people on instagram who use either Dexcom sensors or Freestyle Libre, which allow you to monitor and track your blood...
I thought this was interesting. This past Tuesday I had a very stressful event occur while I had a Freestyle Libre sensor running. I'm a recovering type 2 and I like to see how things are going occasionally by using a Freestyle Libre sensor.
A little background: The stressful event was a...
Hi there. I have been having 2 or 3 lumps or abcessess on my armpits and its so painful that i cant explain. They are growing everyday and some are rubbing against one another. I have been on antibiotics 6th course now but it keeps recurring. No pain killer is helping much. My BG is well under...
My current Kindle book is Blood Sugar 101 by Jenny Ruhl. I am learning a lot from this book; has anyone else read it?
One of the main things I have learned is how the pancreas works and when and how insulin is released. I am aware of the book "Think Like a Pancreas", but I thing that is mainly...
Hello all
I'm newly diagnosed type 2
I was hoping I could get some advice on a good BG meter. I've had a look through some other posts and a popular meter seems to be the SD code free, however some seem to question its accuracy.
I would be really helpful to me if anyone could let me know what...
Just received a new meter Tee2 from Spirit healthcare
The meter was free and came with 10 strips lancet and pouch.
50 strips were only £7.99
No postage and vat free if you fill in box.
Looking forward to saving money on strips. Hopefully reasonably accurate.
Hi Guys - thought I would post to get your thoughts on this one. Ive heard that pork scratchings (one of my most fave treats) is a good nil carb snack for people with diabetes so I thought last night i would have a few periodically after my tea. Results are as follows - before meal BS was 7.5...
