What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Wasn’t hungry this morning so just black coffee until ‘breakfast’ at noon of scrambled eggs and bacon.
Boiler has conked out - can’t get an engineer until Tuesday. Woodburner is misbehaving and the smoke is coming the wrong way - into the room. So a cold afternoon which made me hungry. SLC cheese sandwich and a DGF cake around 3:30.
Dinner at 6: small slice fried calves liver, air fried pork belly, cheese filled mushroom, broccoli and sauerkraut. Glass of red.
Now wrapped in a blanket trying to entice Dennis to sit in my lap and keep me warm. IMG_1479.jpg

@Stephen Bond I agree with @Pipp ‘s comments. The occasional splurge may lead to more frequent cravings in some people.
I don’t intentionally splurge at all. I find it simpler that way. This is how I eat now and I can’t see a reason to ever go back. You’ll have to see what works for you though. Some people can allow themselves a slice of cake at a family celebration, or a weekly Sunday fry up with hash browns.
I think the main thing is that if you do splurge, either deliberately or unintentionally, just move on afterwards and get back to this healthier way of eating with no regrets.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and another carb killa bar.
Dinner: butter chicken curry with cauliflower rice followed by SF strawberry jelly and cream.

Diced up bacon mixed in mashed veggies fried up for breakfast.
Last of the cold roast beef with a mixed salad for lunch.
No real interest in eating last night, so just had few peppery crackers and blue cheese and some rationed out lychees for supper at six.

Glass of single malt before bed time.

Breakfast: fish chowder - it had dried up a bit so I added some double cream.
Lunch: mixed veg soup.
3rd meal: a bacon omelette.

Would have made it a cheese omelette but this morning I prepared bacon in small pieces for Em's bacon sandwich but when she arrived, she just wanted rashers of bacon, fried crisp and a "dip" of ketchup. That leaves a sandwich worth of small bacon pieces to use up.

Thursday 8 December - bed 7 FBG 6.3. Well, the dental trip went well, although it was a long journey. Snow was really coming down when I left, so I was happy to go by bus.

B. TAG

L. Much, much later bouillon and 2 slices of SLC toast with ox tongue

D. A weird mix of chicken, mushroom in a white wine mustard sauce (found in the freezer and I had no idea what it was until I thawed it) and 2 chicken fillets which I'd coated in some kind of spicy rub. Had 2 slices of SLC bread to dip in the sauce. DGF Christmas pie. Later I had my CC little chocolate pot.

I was pretty cold when I got back. Legs in particular needed thawed!

@DJC3 I feel for you. I remember our heating having a nervous breakdown mid winter. We waited 5 days for parts. The gas board did give us little electric heaters but it was freezing! We borrowed sleeping bags, had quilts on top, and wore hats, scarves, gloves the lot! Even then, we just longed for bedtime.

Put a hot water bottle under the blanket. Dennis will be there like a shot.

7.3 is pretty good after that blow out!!!!! And probably well worth it.
Does anyone know if the odd splurge is OK, and if so, which I am hoping it is, with what level of frequency? Once a week, once a fortnight, once a month?
My usual problem is getting back on the horse so to speak after over indulging in carbs but so far in the last 6 to 8 weeks I have managed to go straight back the next day. Everyone is different and carb tolerance differs too , I find its better for me to have a splurge then for ever craving . For some they are better staying low carb and maybe then their cravings diminishes.

Late breakfast of smoked salmon and cream cheese in a LoDough wrap ( found at the back of the cupboard - quite a few months out of date but polystyrene seems to last forever!)
L- tuna salad. DGF cake
D- the perfect cold winter’s day to try @maglil55 ‘s feather blade beef recipe: verdict fantastic! I couldn’t believe how thick and rich the sauce became. Served with mashed swede and green beans (and the rest of the bottle of red that went into the dish). IMG_1487.jpg

Panic! I can't find the recipe anymore despite using the search bar!
Would you mind helping me out, that looks amazing. :)
I'll go find out what feather blade beef is called here,

Today will be the second day of sauerkraut and cauliflower mash, the rest of the week was rather unorganised, foodwise. But I did discover a very tasty low carb cracker at (Dutch) Aldi. :)

It’s on maglil55’s CMT (and mine too now!) Do you still have that?

I find I get occasional cravings for things I don't like (and have never liked). It's very weird. One was fish and chips. I would never have fish and chips. Now I enjoy the fish and chips I make with low carb dressing, celeriac chips, and homemade tartare sauce. Last night, I had a longing for tablet. I loath tablet as it is so sickly sweet. I have never, ever liked it.
I know how things taste since I used to always try things (sometimes more than once) to make sure I didn't like them. Told you it was weird.

Glad to be of service. The sauce is excellent and the beef is melt in the mouth.

Featherblade is cut from the shoulder of the beef. Our butcher in Scotland calls it spalebone. It's one of the tougher cuts but it is so slowly cooked that it melts like butter.
