Thank you so much!

And they’re not available at Tesco or Sainsbury’s?
Not that Ive found. They are available from other specialist online stores but no price advantage to them

Day 3 of this (almost) zero carbing thing - which seems to be helping my tummy tremendously!

B: 2 egg omelette with a mushroom
L: small bowl homemade chicken soup
D: lamb shank
Supper: a chunk of corned beef and a slice of the most amazing mature Gruyere. What flavour layers!

You may have noticed that my appetite is coming back. :D
Eggs are such a comfort food. Both of us got sick on vacation and still not 100%. Strangest thing is our diets have changed completely. Though our appetites are returning , my hubby no longer wants salads in any form , prefers broccoli instead. I do t even want to look at salad. I’m going for eggs often, chicken, shrimp and just avo. Easy veg but NO salad.
We made Cobb salad the last night on vacation and I thought my intestines were going to explode on the plane.
My stomach is much happier without cellulose.

Hope you feel better and your meals look awesome !

Hi. Had my first ever Lidl protein roll today - Lidl is the least conveniently located of my local supermarkets so I’ve never bothered to go looking. However was in another part of town today and passed a Lidl so went in to see if they had any. Plenty of rolls! Have to say it was really delicious - just had it plain, toasted with butter (that nice Waitrose butter with sea salt crystals in it). Bought 2 rolls (other one is in the freezer) and now wishing I’d got more. Will report back on effects on blood sugar.

Today’s full menu was:

Breakfast - none

Lunch - out with a friend. Restaurant we planned on eating at was closed, which was disappointing as we’d both picked out what we wanted to have. Settled on Byron Burger where I had a bunless cheeseburger with bacon and aioli, with a side salad. Also got them to prepare their courgette fries without the polenta-based batter. 0.3mmol rise after 2 hours, so can definitely go back.

Dinner - the Lidl roll with butter and another slice of my chocolate cake with cream.

Edited to add my post lunch snack. Also a new food item - a few (small) squares of Montezuma’s Absolute Black 100% chocolate with orange and cocoa nibs. Also pretty good.

Edited again to report no spike in response to Lidl roll. 4.7 before, 5.1 after 1 hour and back to 4.8 after 2 hours. On the menu.

Back to work in the morning :(

brilliant thanks for the link - cheaper and quicker by the look of it
You're welcome. It's a small business but she keeps a good stock and runs it well. It was here I discovered lavash bread. They do a load of low carb high protein stuff. I get my chocolate from them for baking. Delivery is very quick.

D: beef rib cooked in red wine with a very little onion and pepper

Edited to add - and a glass of coconut milk kefir. Thinking of switching to goats milk.

Still sitting a bit higher. Bed 6.3 FBG 7.1 - had to eat breakfast as it was heading upwards so I had to stop it in its tracks. Plus I was meeting a friend, SIL , niece and her baby in M&S cafe and I didn't want to confront M&S cake hungry.
B. Lidl high protein roll with pate pate the tasty salmon one. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
L. Pot of black tea in M&S
D. 2 sole fillets fried in butter and parsley with spinach, broccoli, peas and green beans. I have strawberry chia made so will have some with a couple of strawberries.
Did have a campari and soda but stuck to water otherwise.

An interesting 2 days but not Necessarily in a good way, still interesting nonetheless!
I decided to test something out using my new toy (libre) - I initially wanted to see how steeply / quickly my sugars currently spike in response to a higher carb meal ( around my current daily amount) , how quickly they drop back down, and how long such a spike would affect overall control. I ended up also finding out what impact having an extra dose of Gliclizide would have and how quickly

So yesterdays food
B - nothing
L- test meal comprised of 41g carbs made up of 1 plate salmon sashimi, 1 plate pepper squid, 1 plate seaweed salad and 1 plate vegetable tempura. That resulted in a rather spectacular 7 point rise with my sugars still over target at dinnertime so I didnt eat and took an extra Gliclizide to bring them back down. That did its job a little too well and I was then on a 4 heading downwards at 10pm so had to eat 2 slices Hilo toast and some peanut butter to get them up to a reasonable (6.5) pre bed level.
So an interestingish day with 760 cals and 56g carbs in total

According to Libre my body also decided that a 3.15am liver dump and a rise of over 2mmol was called for!, Since getting up my sugars have been ok and odays BS graph has been pretty flat (as normal),but at the high end of my target range, despite my carb intake being v low across the day, which Im taking as showing a hangover from yesterdays experiment.

Todays food
B - Unsweetened almond and Koko milk cocoa
L - peppered smoked mackeral fillet with rocket followed by this berry chia mousse ( although I cant see how she reckons 4 servings - I Divided the result into 6, still either way its very nice)
https://wholenewmom.com/recipes/ant...rry-strawberry-cranberry-mousse-chia-pudding/ ( the recipes at the end of all the verbiage,)
So far 525 cals and 9g carbs.
Not sure what dinneR will entail - not v hungry yet - I always find chia dishes v filling

Today’s answer to the title of the thread is “far too much”. Intended to have a fasting day but didn’t turn out that way.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - really hungry. Tried to ignore it but ended up with an assortment of snacks from the Coop. Bag of pork crunch, 30g mixed nuts and a small bar of 85% chocolate.

Dinner - 2 Waitrose free range Cumberland sausages, 2 rashers bacon, 1 Birds Eye burger. Followed by chocolate chia pudding with cream.

Just as well I’m about to head for the gym.

Day 4 of nearly zero carb

B: wafer thin, extremely lean bacon. Baked in the oven til crispy. About the lowest fat bacon i have ever seen. Very disappointing, really.
L: beef rib
D: rib eye steak, half a tomato, half a mushroom, a blob of coleslaw and 1 chip. I am inordinately proud of it just being 1chip.
