Ha, yes maybe that’s a good enough reason.
I like Bryony Gordon. She writes well on a lot of topics, not least her struggle with alcoholism which I can relate to as it has affected 3 of my close family.
There does seem to be a remarkable echo of Trump and his enemy of the people about here at times. Big Pharma, HCPs an all deliberately spreading fake news about fat, eatwell plate, cholesterol etc and us brave warriors for justice knowing the real truth that will set the oppressed free. No money from Arron Banks or the Mercers involved I hope. Just sayin:angelic:

Afternoon all. Posting early today as off to friends 60th birthday do shortly after an early dinner.

A simple menu today. Lunch was 2 fried eggs, 2 rashers bacon and smoked salmon in a cafe near where I’m staying. Arrived with brown sauce all over the plate! Never seen that before. Duly sent back!

Evening all. Early start again and another vegan day - I enjoyed the food today but won't be full vegan for now. England rugby did their part to make my day spifficacious now for Poch's band of misfits, unfits and not fit to wear the shirts,
Breakfast: - Lots of tea - another early start but stuck it out in bed to 5.25. Went through many pints - Orange Pekoe and Assam
Dockey : After dog walk for 1 hr hot (ish) chocolate in newish toy (about ⅔ price of Hotel Chocolat but same dualit machine); soya milk (unsweetened) and organic raw cacao powder
Lunch : Avocado salad
Mid Afternoon: Tassimo Americano Grande with soya cream - wanted to stay awake to watch rugby (kept drifting off first half)
Evening meal: Waitrose Vegan bolognese sauce, mushrooms, cauliflower rice; Greek basil; tea That bolognese sauce was pretty **** jolly fine
Wear gloves with those sparklers folks

Evening all, quiet morning at home, hair appointment this afternoon and a little bit of Christmas shopping delivered, yes, I’ve made a start lol
Coffee with cream when I woke, no breakfast as I didn’t feel hungry, unfortunately missing breakfast doesn’t see my BG go down.
Mid morning I had an almond milk cappuccino followed by early lunch of the remainder of my cauliflower crust pizza, this time I reheated it, delicious, I will definitely make it again
Late afternoon coffee with cream and a piece of my carrot cake
Dinner will be chicken tikka masala from the indian served with cauliflower rice and a glass of wine

Hope everyone’s had a good day. It’s been lovely here.

Breakfast - lots of cups of tea with almond milk and a few cups coffee with cream while we made a start on clearing the loft.

Lunch was a diet Coke at the cinema while watching Bohemian Rhapsody - I haven’t enjoyed a film so much in ages, it was really good.

Dinner was DD Asian cabbage stir fry. 30 g almonds while I was cooking and an IP yoghurt afterwards.

Bgs been in 4s all day so I’m chuffed.

Hello all.

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.

Lunch: The last of the left-over soup. A Wiener sausage: A DD keto roll with goat cream cheese and smoked salmon.

Snack: About 50g of 85% chocolate (8g of carbs). A small slice of homemade low-carb carrot cake.

Dinner: Lamb's lettuce with Caesar's dressing and parmesan. A serving of beouf bourguignon, which has been cooking most of the day (substituted some of the higher carb ingredients). A glass of red wine.

Ian I think the IF has bought bgs down rather than just DD recipes. I’m trying 30hr fasts so just dinner one day, then breakfast and lunch the next, then dinner only again etc. Don’t think I can keep it up indefinitely but the results are keeping me motivated this week.

Ziggy what do you do with all the egg yolks left over from the DD rolls? I make a batch now and again and usually make mayo with the yolks but I hate making it and I mess it up half the time.

Hi just thought this might be worth sharing, I just saw a video on Instagram, Joe Wickes, a pizza base made using chicken. He blitzed chicken, cheese, seasoning and spices, spread this onto baking sheet, cooked then added toppings. I searched the internet and there are a couple of low carb recipe sites that have versions of it, worth trying I think :)

Hi @DJC3,

Actually, I found I don't need the egg whites when making DD keto rolls -- the nut/bean/seed flours combined with the psyllium husks and the hot water are enough to make the recipe work.

My problem tends to be the opposite. When making mayonnaise, I don't know what to do with the egg whites. So, I just throw them away.

I found making mayonnaise can be quite tricky -- messed it up plenty of times too. Did you find out what went wrong?

It’s usually that I get fed up adding the olive oil so slowly and start to speed up before I should, then it just splits. I know you can start again with a new yolk but I’ve usually lost patience by then. It’s fine if I take my time and do as I’m supposed to.
It’s interesting that the rolls work without the egg whites though, I’ll give that a go next time - do they still rise as much?

Yes, I agree -- letting the oil drizzle in slowly (especially in the beginning) seems to make all the difference. I usually use avocado or macadamia oil, which is quite expensive-- so I usually persist. Still a bit of pain though -- remember fondly when I just used to pick mayonnaise up at the grocery store.

As to the DD keto rolls, the egg whites didn't seem to make much of a difference. In my experience, the amount of boiling water seems to be the most important factor. The drier the dough, the less it rises.

How often do you make the rolls?

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: DD keto pancake with bacon and SF maple syrup followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: raspberry phd bar and black coffee.
Dinner at local Hungry Horse: chicken skewers on a bed of stir fried onions and peppers with coleslaw and side salad followed by dessert at home, SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.

Egg yolks? Keto creme brulee - no contest!

I’ve made them around half a dozen times - thinking they’ll be good for quick lunches, but often they get eaten by the rest of the family who seem to enjoy them just as much.
Thanks for the tip re boiling water.
