What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Odd sort of night has put my BG up a bit higher than usual and I am currently on my 3rd cup of tea. Soon I will make a mushroom omelette for breakfast.

I'm going out this afternoon - don't really want to because it is so much faffing around to get me anywhere but my friend has said she'll come for me since our car is off the road at present, so I'll have to show willing. I was going to bake something to take with me, but haven't done so and will just have tea while out. There is a cake that my friend has put in her freezer for me that I made a week or so ago, so that will come out for others to share.

2nd meal today will be fish, which I will get out of the freezer shortly. I know I have some haddock there - I saw it a couple of days ago when looking for something else and I saw the spinach that I had been looking for, so will have some of that with the haddock. Probably do the 2 "en Papillote" with some lemon and onion. Maybe a side salad, if I can be bothered by then.

Monday 22 May bed 7.8 FBG 7.9. Day off today, not that you'd know, since Hubby woke me in a flap at 7.40am to say I'd slept in!! Got up, had a shower, and tackled a load of ironing (including 3 King size bet sets!).

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and coleslaw. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing

D. Leftover lamb, veggies and gravy from yesterday. CC little chocolate pot with blackberries. Peroni 00 - needed that after the ironing!

Tuesday 23 May bed 8.2 FBG 8.4 (No idea why)

B. TAG and a bit crustless quiche. Benecol dairy free

L. 2 slices of SRSLY toast with prawn cocktail that needed used.

D. Seems to have been a burger day! SRSLY seeded roll with an M&S wagu burger, mustard, and an Emmental cheese slice. Coleslaw, halloumi fries with garlic mayo. I couldn't finish it. The halloumi fries are a new discovery in Sainsburys. They are spiced with a harissa/ paprika mix then fried in a little olive oil. They do actually go crisp on the outside but stay soft inside.

Coffee and unsweetened almond milk
Toulouse sausages and cucumber
Prawns
Small avocado

Breakfast fried one slice of bacon, egg and mushroom on LC toast
Lunchtime a couple of strawberries with yoghurt
While out shopping spotted clotted cream in reduced sticker section at a low price so on return couldn't resist making small portion of quick clotted cream raspberry ice cream. Just a few frozen raspberries mashed in clotted cream yummy

What’s the carb value of the Halloumi fries? I was in Sainsbury’s today for a rare visit but missed these.

No breakfast today, just black coffee as I’d a session booked with an open water swimming coach which went very well. After a swim we had a cup of tea on the beach and talked about dogs - great morning.
Lunch when I got in was a DGF wrap filled with avocado and prawns with h/m Marie Rose sauce.
Dinner - ACV, small crunchy salad, mince&cabbage curry. Glass of red with carefully measured 20g nuts. IMG_2508.jpg

Pretty disastrous afternoon. Just as well I forgot to take the fish out of the freezer because I was in no state to cook or eat it by the time I got home.

All I've eaten today was the mushroom omelette at about 11.30 this morning. Something in it must have upset my stomach because I ended up vomiting during the afternoon and being a pretty wet blanket all the rest of the afternoon but couldn't come home because I had to wait for the friend who had taken me in her car.

Fell asleep as soon as I got home and only woke up a short time ago and got myself the cup of tea I thought I would get while out. BG is pretty high, but I don't care about that right now. Bed, I think, is the best idea, but will probably mean that I get up about 1 am.

Oh no Annb, I hope you feel better soon.

I am recovering from what I'm calling 'Noodlegeddon'.

I tried shiritake/konjac noodles yesterday and the side-effects were not pleasant. I had to excuse myself in the middle of a hospital appointment this morning to throw up, mid-chat with the consultant. I was fighting to avoid throwing up since 4am so the fact I lasted until 9am-ish has me feeling weirdly proud.

I am going back to my beloved courgetti and never again shall be tempted by weird noodles. I miss the Oomi protein noodles that were made of fish; I was fine with them.

So, it's been a bit of a day.

B: very very late morning, a flat white from McDonald's and a skinny bar thingy I found in my bag. Didn't want to eat but needed food with meds.

L: At tea time, broccoli and stilton soup.

D: A shawarma wrap, early evening, and I only ate the filling, which wasn't much.

S: Went to a gig and had diet coke while there. Naturally hungry when we got home so I microwaved two mini Babybels, had another Skinny bar thingy and then ended up sharing some ham out of the fridge with the cats and spotted my last CC pot so had that too.

Hi All
Sorry for everyone’s vomiting episodes! @Annb how horrible you weren’t at home when it happened. Hope you are feeling better today. I am over my early week affliction but my BG is still stubbornly high.
So yesterday usual brekkie of slice LC toast, butter and copious tea.
lunch preceded by AVC drink was small plate chopped salad with a finger of Shropshire Blue crumbled over the top, spoon coleslaw.
Supper was cheese & tomato omelette. Still had horrid FBG today!
Today same brekkie.
Lunch will likely be a repeat of yesterday.
Supper will be chunky cod fingers with broccoli.

Slept quite a lot more than I expected - woke at 3 am but came through to the kitchen and had a cup of tea and fell asleep in the big chair - supports my aches and pains better than bed. Took some pain killers about 8 am and feeling reasonable now, albeit a bit sluggish and cold.

About to make breakfast of scrambled eggs.

2nd meal will probably be salmon which should be coming with my order from Tesco. Unfortunately the eggs and greek yoghurt won't be there. I'll ask Alistair if he can buy either or both of those in another shop today. The salmon will be "en papillote" which was what I intended for the frozen white fish yesterday and will include spinach and some salad.

For some reason not even known to myself I decided to take a slice of wholemeal bread out of the freezer and toast it to have with my scrambled eggs. Having it made me realise that I don't really like bread any more. That's all to the good. If I don't like it, I won't crave it. I guess my tastes are being retrained. I don't want to have pretend carb products (veggie noodles, caul rice etc). I'd rather have the vegetables as vegetables in their own right - with meat, of course, on occasions. I'm quite happy with, say, a curry just on its own and no accompanying rice or poppadoms and so on.

I so agree with you about Oomi noodles. Lidl also had their own Lighthouse Bay noodles which were made from fish protein. They discontinued them during lockdown. Goodness knows why! I had to buy them up and free them any time they were in stock.

Oh dear one of those days!
Coffee and cream
Fage yogurt then a strawberry one which was free!!!!! Should have just binned it.
Ponchetta Beef and tomato.
Plus delivery driver said I wasn't in when I was. Furious. Now have to wait a week to pick it up.......

It was these little beauts. A whole pack is too much for one person. 100g is more than 1/2 the pack and pretty good nutritional values. I liked the fact they were crisp outside and soft inside. View attachment 61071View attachment 61072

They are definitely on my next Sainsbury’s shopping list. I used to live very close to a branch but now it’s a bit of a trek.
Edit for typo
