What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Sunday 9 July - bed 7.1 FBG 6.8 Son requested a trip to recycling. I was going today anyway, so it gave me a helper with my stuff. I've got a busy day tomorrow. Early Aqua class, then hot foot it into Edinburgh for badly needed physio. M&S finally came out with the school discount event, so I've got all the school clothes ordered too.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with Ploughman's Pate. Benecol dairy free.

L. Gin and zero lemonade (well, it is very warm, and I needed a pick me up).

D. Campari and soda and a Moretti Zero (it's still very warm). M&S chicken shawarma, cauliflower fried rice, fried aubergine. The chicken was spicier than last time.
CC little chocolate pot.

I couldn't finish the chicken. It was just a bit too much. 20230709_185430.jpg

B: ff greek with 2 strawberries and seeds
Late morning an iced coffee at Cafe. Probably had ordinary milk in as couldn't be bothered to ask for cream
L: 2 drumsticks and a bite of ham. A small ice cream
D: roast pork, broccoli, carrot, butter fried courgettes. Another small ice cream.

Breakfast : sausage , bacon and eggs
Frothy coffee full fat milk
Lunch full fat Greek yogurt with raspberries and blueberries
Cup of tea with semi skimmed milk
Dinner beetroot salad, mozzarella pearls, sun dried tomatoes and 2 mini chicken tikka fillets with vinegerette

Am toying with the idea of a glass of rose.

Thanks, I will try it ( but maybe not the catering size jar)

I couldn’t find that chicken shawarma in M&S a couple of weeks ago, I thought it’d be back by now. I know they took it off over the winter, time to pay another visit and see if they have it in now.

I eventually did have my pork and vegetables but only because I had put it on to heat although I didn't really feel like eating. Forgot to take insulin before hand so BG went up to 15.1. Didn't finish the food and took a correction dose. Should fix it soon.

Baking didn't go all that well today - turns out that the butter I used was "Lurpak light". I'd never heard of that and it's really no good for baking. Other things turned out allright but shortbread is a bit strange. I was told to expect 3 young children tomorrow with their parents and grandmother so I made some choc chip cookies and they were not very good either. I think there are some KitKat biscuits somewhere in the larder so those will have to do.

BG currently 11.1 so I'll have to do something to bring it down. Probably should have some breakfast and take some insulin but I can't think what I want to eat. My main meal today will be sausages and vegetables of some sort but that's not yet. Maybe a RyVita with some soft cheese. Seems like a good idea but I don't fancy it. I know - I'll make some sardine and tomato spread and put that on RyVita. That will be tasty enough to perk up my appetite.

Hi All
So back to Friday supper was scampi (large pieces, less covering and salad.
Sat brekkie usual slice LC toast, butter, copious tea.
Lunch was chopped salad, bit of quiche and spoon coleslaw.
Supper was takeaway Tandoori King Prawns and cau,i bhajee.
have to come clean lots of fizz enjoyed in the garden from 4pm onwards as family descended to mark my birthday.
Sun same brekkie. Then went through to mid afternoon roast with son & partner at his excellent pub.
Today brekkie same, as always.
Lunch 4 h/g cherry toms, 2 inches chopped cucumber, tiny bit quiche and 3 pickled silverskins
Supper will be two Green Cuisine plant burgers, topped with two Portobello mushrooms all baked together in the oven.

I had low carb 'oatmeal' this morning with zero calorie maple syrup and some pumpkin seeds. Coffee with unsweetended almond milk and truvia.
Lunch was a BLT salad with avocado oil mayo. To drink I had Teisseire 0% sugar raspberry and cranberry. (Not sure about the squash but it is my favourite and I want to make sure I am getting enough to drink during the day, and I hate the taste of water lol)
Dinner tonight will be Asian style green beans with bean sprouts and salt and chilli pork belly.
Snack will be creme fraiche with 3 fresh strawberries and a cup of masala chai.

Today I ate for the first time since Thursday, as I did a three and a half day fast (my first!)
I had Bone Broth to begin re-feeding, followed 2 hrs later with an avocado.
I shall do Cauliflower mash with broccoli and some slices of beef for dinner x

@coby well done on your long fast I've never done longer than a day. every 24 hours I regularly fast for a minimum of 14 hours and sometimes longer but find it difficult to do a longer water only fast. When I started keto six years ago I did a month of 23 hours fasting and one meal a day in my one hour eating window but these days, now at normal weight and bgs, I find that to meet my protein and nutrition needs I mainly eat in 8 - 10 hours and it suits me.Hope your fast helps with your bg management which is what it's all about.
@PenguinMum happy belated birthday sounds like you had an enjoyable time.
@filly spotted you finishing off your birthday champagne today. I love birthdays and celebrating.
B kefir with flax seeds and a few garden berries

D ACV in water then marinated chicken with salads then LC crumble with yoghurt.

Evening all

Today:

Water to swallow tablets
Espresso.

L: Cheese-crusted omelette stuffed with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, spinach, oregano and cream cheese plus grated Cheddar cheese for the crust. Salad using lettuce, watercress, celery, salad onions, black olives and mint, dressed with an olive oil, garlic and balsamic vinaigrette, topped with walnut halves.
Strawberries and Greek full-fat yoghurt.

I ran out of eggs today so I had a bacon sandwich. My blood sugar went from 11 to 15.5 . So lesson learned….
Raspberries and greek yougurt and a snack and then a bit of chicken and went out when I came back I was exhausted blood sugar was 8.4.
Then had cheese and mushroom omelette and strawberries and double cream and 2 hours later 9.2 which I think for me is quite good ……..but I would kill for some custard!!!!! And I am still exhausted. This is day 6 of low carbs and metformin.

Turned out there were 12 guests and the children were not allowed anything with added sugar and drank only cold water. Everyone enjoyed the oatcakes so there were only 2 left for the T2 oats-eater to take home with her, but she did take all the experimental cookies. She also brought with her some bananas in case there was nothing here for her. Can't figure out her T2 diet at all. Neil brought lots of extra chairs through and then disappeared. I had a hypo just before they arrived and crammed in several of the cookies I'd made for the children for a very quick boost. That worked but it left me feeling very tired. They hadn't had lunch so I threw together a quick salad with some ham, some smoked salmon (which looked a bit pathetic until I put the pot of sardine and tomato paste in the middle of it) and some cheese. Also found enough fruits (including some tinned in fruit juice) for the children. Parents also joined in. I think they all went away satisfied so all's well. Could hardly move when they left so couldn't do anything about putting the room back together and just fell asleep (about 4pm to 7pm). Neil hasn't reappeared yet so the chairs will all just have to stay where they are meantime. Huge pile of dishes to wash. Later. Can't do anything just now.

My bag of mung beans arrived in the post along with a packet of dried mung bean sprouts. We'll see how we get on with those.

Not bothering with the sausages or veg; there's enough bits and pieces of salad plus some ham and some cheese sitting on the table amongst the debris of the afternoon. That'll do if I eventually feel like eating.

@shelley262 thank you so much. I honestly thought I'd give up after I got to day two but to my utter amazement I never had any hunger pangs whatsoever and could easily have gone on longer! My diabetes has been under control for two years with and A1c of 37 and 38 but I wanted to rejuvenate my cells :)
