No breakfast, then exercise class and coffee (herbal tea for me) with friends.

L: a 90 second bread with about a 1/4 of an avocado and some cheese. A nut bar. Some ff greek

Computer problems all afternoon grrr!

D: a feast of leftovers, cold chicken and stuffed pepper. The boys has stuffing slices reheated in airfyer which came out nice and crispy. Strawberries which had been marinating in Cointreau and black pepper, with cream added. A little later a chunk of cheese.

(Don't tell @Rachox but I had 2, yes 2, jaffa cakes while on hold with bank business line!)

Thank you for all your good wishes for our Anniversary Cruise - they worked!
Won't list everything eaten on the cruise to Norway just a few examples and, having decided at the last minute to take my blood sugar testing kit, I can confirm that I was able to effortlessly stay low carb all week. The choice was fabulous and I ate practically my body weight in fish including raw tuna and salmon and lots of smoked salmon and trout plus freshly fried fish such as sea bass with crispy skin. Most of my bg readings fasting and two hours after were around 4.9 and never above 5.8 and my weight this morning was exactly the same as the morning I left. It sounds a bit smug but I was so worried about what would be on offer so I'm thrilled and it wasn' t difficult to stick to low carb because the food on offer was amazing and filling.

Welcome home!

Really enjoyed reading about your cruise to Norway. It sounds as though Cunard could cater for most dietary restrictions with the vast range of foods on offer

Even so, well done for steering clear of the pizzas, freshly baked bread and pastries. That wants some doing!

Evening all

B: Two poached eggs topped with a knob of butter, slices of avocado and crevettes, seasoned with a grinding or two of black pepper.
Water to swallow tablets.
Espresso.

L: Crustless quiche using broccoli, red peppers, onions, eggs, cream and parmesan cheese.
Salad made with watercress, chicory, oregano, cherry tomatoes, radishes, salad onions and black olives, topped with toasted pistachios and dressed with an olive oil, garlic and balsamic vinaigrette.
Skipped pud.
Water to drink.

D: Seafood salad made with brown shrimps, mussels, lettuce, fennel, celery, Romano peppers, salad onions and mustard cress, with a dollop aioli for dipping, topped with toasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

@MommaE thanks for the cauli falafel link. I’ve used a few recipes from that site, it’s pretty good isn’t it?
B- cheesy scrambled eggs
L- DGF roll with h/m ox liver pate. Surprisingly nice. I find ox liver a bit strong but Paul loves it. Made into pate with a little onion and a lot of butter, it was really tasty. Few squares of Almond Absolute Black.
D- nice and easy, leftover lamb and veg from yesterday. My neighbour gave me more rhubarb so cooked according to @shelley262 ‘s method, with lemon and ginger and had some with cream for pud.

Yesterday’s food.

Mid morning: americano with cream.

Lunch: chicken breast cooked in air fryer with garli butter and lemon juice with baked courgette. Greek yogurt, seeds and a little grated dark chocolate (this GY is from Lidl and it’s really good).

Supper: kippers with scrambled egg followed by a small slice of the baked blueberry cheesecake I made yesterday?

I tried something this morning that I obviously shouldn't have. I made myself some protein oatmeal. I bought these Norwegian black oats for my stepdaughter that are steel cut and have actual fat content, and I made some and added egg whites and a scoop of zero carb vanilla cream protein powder which was a favourite pre-gym breakfast for me like 10yrs ago when I used to lift weights pretty much daily and wasn't type 2 diabetic.

About an hour after eating them I started to feel a bit off kilter not exactly dizzy but sort of dizzish and hot. I took my blood sugar and it was 9.6 :( so now I know that oats are 100% not something I can have anymore. Makes me bit sad because I love oats and according to my doctor they are "good for diabetics" but this is clearly not the case.

As far as I'm concerned, oats are good for diabetics (this one anyway) to recover from a hypo as it gives a quick rise to BG.

I'm sure loads of people with type 2 diabetes eat oats and are perfectly fine. Just for me maybe I need to have them on a day that I am planning to do loads of cardio exercise or something. I am feeling much better now that I spent 40 minutes on the treadmill so maybe that is the key for me is only have them when I am going to workout.

Oats are seriously high in carbs and, personally, I would avoid like the plague unless I was trying to get out of a hypo.

Breakfast: smoked salmon omelette.
2nd meal: same as yesterday - braised cabbage with crispy bacon and sausage pieces. I only ate half of it yesterday so that makes life easier today.

Had a visit from Em and Hugo (the basset hound) yesterday. The dog has calmed down considerably since he joined the household and seems to be perfectly amicable and has learned to walk on a lead without pulling away. He also does what Em calls "mooching" if he sees someone eating. Em had an ice cream and he seemed quite keen to get his share, which of course, he didn't. He did get a couple of small oatcakes though. Seemed quite happy with those. Nice enough dog but I still can't see why anyone would want a basset hound.

5ish ACV in water and then hm hummus with some celery and radish crudites then sea bass in lemon butter with peas and a couple of hm oven cooked from frozen new potato chips with glass of dry white wine.
