What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi All
I am stepping away for a little while as my eye injection on Tuesday caused significant injury and all I’ve eaten since has been cups of tea and LC toast.
I'm so sorry to hear, and I hope the injury isn't something permanent and you'll heal soon.
Please share as soon as you're up to it if you want to.

Today was what should have been yesterdays meal: The other sausage from the pack with more of the leftover mustard sauce and Branmayo, and runner beans again, this time with cheese sauce. :hungry:
Still have some cooked runner beans and cheese sauce left so I'll use them in something tomorrow. Or at least I hope I still have some cheese sauce left, I'm off now to check if I put a lid on the pot to protect it from cats...

edit: I did forget to put the lid back on  but the cats hadn't noticed yet!

Don’t blame you! Did your dad like it I wonder?
It’s funny, I like a stinky cheese but this was beyond the pale!
At the time, he said he did, but never ate it that way again. ;) Oh yes, it did stink!

@PenguinMum, so sorry that you're suffering. Take care, I hope the pain & discomfort eases very soon & that the treatment works fully for you.

Dinner this evening was lamb chops & stir fried cavolo nero with some chopped bacon & a bit of onion.

So sorry to read this. I don't know how you cope with the frequent injections. Two days' worth was enough for me. I do hope it heals quickly and you can get back to enjoying Christmas and your new grand baby xx

I am close to 200 posts behind. Having finished math revision, I then got into chemistry revision in-between trying desperately to do a million and one other things!

Thursday 30 November - bed 8.2 FBG 7.6. BGs are a bit out of sorts. Probably stress!

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and coleslaw. Benecol dairy free.

L A bit of crustless quiche.

D. Peri Peri chicken wings and alioli. CC little chocolate pot with raspberries.

Got to Aqua without feeling in need of oxygen!

Friday 1 December - bed 8.4 FBG 7.9. Half day Friday. Had to fit in a journey to the Fort after the school runs to pick up the first of many parcels. Ended up at Boots twice because one of my boxes was empty!! I didn't notice at first as I had more than one. Fortunately, no problem and Boots ordered a replacement.

B. TAG

L. 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and coleslaw. Benecol dairy free.

D. SRSLY pizza with tomato and cheese. Gin & soda. CC Little chocolate pot.

Good evening @PenguinMum. Really sorry to hear you're going through the mill. How unlucky, especially in the run-up to your grandson's first Christmas.

Take care and get yourself back to full fitness in your own time. We'll still be here when you feel more like posting x.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a phd bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Dinner, quick one today after a troublesome follow up this afternoon after my foot surgery. Unfortunately it’s not healing as it should so I have to go back Thursday to have a plaster cast put on :( So soft boiled eggs with marmite soldiers made from halloumi chips!

Sorry to read that your foot isn't healing as it should. Hopefully, when I catch up you'll be fully recovered.

Evening all

Today:

B: Two poached eggs topped with a knob of butter, avocado, seasoned with black pepper and a wedge of Duckett's Caerphilly.
Water to swallow tablet.
Double espresso.

L: Packed lunch made with leftover walnut and mushroom nut roast.
Chicory, Romano peppers, celery sticks and baby plum tomatoes with a dollop of home-made mayonnaise for dipping.
Leftover pheasant (brought home in a doggy bag on Wednesday).
Almonds and hazelnuts.
Water to drink.

D: Smoked salmon and cream cheese salad made with lettuce, celery, baby plum tomatoes, salad onions and mustard cress, dressed with olive oil and a touch of lemon juice, topped with toasted pumpkin seeds.
Water to swallow tablets.

B: ff greek with seeds
12ish a handful almonds
1:30 2 scrambled eggs and a nut bar
7ish takeout curry. I had the tandoori mixed grill and shared a sag bhaji (not a battered one, just cooked)
2 glasses red
9ish a coconut ice cream bar 13g carbs according to the packaging.

Interesting libre readings, 6 through the night. Rose to high 8s until 4:30 ish, which coincided with some relief of tension. My fears of sad news were confirmed, a relative has a terminal diagnosis, maybe soonish

Awaiting evenings readings with interest.
It's a horrible thing to deal with. I do feel for you. I had it 3 times with both my brothers and my sister. I coped by just treating them normally but also talking about feelings. I think about them a lot at this time of year. Hugs.

Did eat again Thursday about 10pm had some pate on crackers.

Friday
10:30 2 perfectly poached eggs on 2 slices livlife. Sprinkled maldon sea salt on top. Absolutely perfect!

I'm finding I prefer the livlife to the hilo, mainly because the livlife shape and thinness is better for toast.

Skipped lunch

Evening we were hosting a Christmas party for the neighbours who very kindly bring food to share.
So through the course of the evening I had
Pastry cheese rolls
A small handful nibble biscuits
A bite of mince pie (yuk)
A bowl of tiramisu (so good)
Some cheese including Stilton, brie, Christmas pudding cheddar (had added fruits, brandy etc) and a chilli and lime cheddar
Both the last 2 were interesting, others loved the Christmas one, not me so much. The lime one was very limey and the chilli hot. Liked a very small piece but couldn't eat much more. It might be useful in some cooked dishes maybe?
All the cheeses were from Morrisons. I will be buying the last 2 to make our Christmas cheeses more varied, but only small pieces.

For drink I was trying a low sugar cranberry juice drink. It has sweetners (not the better ones) but I found diluting it with water and adding a splash of white wine made an very acceptable drink. It was nice to have something that wasnt just wine or spirits and felt Chrsitmassy

My bgs are all over the place, not surprisingly. My baseline daytime seems to be 8s. Partytime was mostly 10 with a 12 peak. Went to bed on a 9 and it took 3 hours to come down.

Still stressed, have a lurking cold under all the adrenaline and ate wrong foods. It could have been a lot worse!

1200 breakfast of cold chicken. Still some left so will have to make some mayo to go with that some other time (soon).

2nd meal: sausage and cabbage still left from yesterday.

I was going to have a tomahawk steak for my Christmas dinner - I've fancied the idea for a long time - but checked at the butcher's when I went in on Thursday and it is so very expensive, so I shan't bother. Maybe just an ordinary piece of steak instead. That's for buying next Thursday so I have time to decide.

Expecting guests at New Year, so have to have a think about what to feed them. They are not vegetarian, but they don't eat much meat. I know they like rice so maybe some veggie rice dish and something meaty on the side. Maybe even festive macaroni cheese as a side for the children. Can't quite decide. Maybe jewelled rice with a veggie dish to go with it and the meaty side as well. The meaty side will be for me. Or I might make life easier and just get some good quality sausages as the meaty side. I daresay kids will eat macaroni cheese and sausages. Decisions, decisions!

Break fast- salad, brinjal fry, fenugreek leaves fry, beans fry,2 egg white omelet with mushrooms, cucumber-celery juice.
Lunch- 100 grams peanuts & cashews
Snack - almond milk coffee and 30g nuts
Dinner - salad, chia seeds with seeds, 2egg omelet with mushrooms, boiled spinach. Almond milk coffee.

Just knew I was on dangerous territory! I'm talking about the sourdough bread again. I just can't handle it. I can cope with most things that are 'dangerous' in the kitchen, biscuits, cakes, puddings and early Christmas fayre...., but I just can't cope with bread! I failed miserably yesterday to stick to one slice a day, I'd promised myself I wouldn't go over my quota!

Yesterday:
Late breakfast: 2 poached eggs with a slice of buttered sourdough bread.
Handful of pecans with a G&T.
Dinner was hm chicken soup (had half), made with a chicken carcass, left over chicken meat, small onion, half large carrot, 2 sticks of celery, and mushrooms, served with double cream. Had 2 slices of buttered sourdough bread :sorry: .

2 squares of 90% Lindt chocolate and another handful of pecans.

Net carb count for the day was about 80g which is much too high for me seeing that I'm trying to lose weight. Don't know how high my BG went as I kept forgetting to test, the highest I'm sure about was 8.2, but in reality it probably was higher.

This morning the scales said I'd gained nearly 2kg over the past 3 or 4 days! I know it's probably water but I've been stuck weight-wise for the past 2 months and that was with me hovering around 20g carbs a day. It's so frustrating. I do have a plan though that may solve my dilemma in the New Year, it involves Dr Mindy Pelz and her book "Fast Like a Girl".

Thinking of those on this thread who are struggling so much at this time, remember to take good care of yourselves.

Today was a new start.

Cocoa frothed with cream on rising.

Late breakfast was a chaffle served with cream cheese on the top. Coffee with cream,

Afternoon had 2 G&T's

Dinner was half a ribeye steak (hubby had the other half), sauteed mushrooms, and cauli rice with double cream and grated cheddar added at the end of cooking.

Almost certain I've had too much fat today.

So far net carbs just under 14g.

Is there such a thing as too many fats? Did you have enough to satisfy your body so it didn't crave carbs? You might need more fats for the next couple of days while your body still clamours for its bread, but once through that you can cut down again and see what happens then.
Re the weight loss stall you might consider dropping the g&ts for a while, when ready. Alcohol affects the liver processing, and the sweeteners in the tonic will be keeping your cravings alive
Read this about "Fluffy"

And stop being so hard in yourself.. no one said this was easy
