Breakfast: Cheddar melted onto RyVita. Quicker than cooking bacon and eggs and, as usual on a leg bandaging day, I was short of time.

Did take the time to weight myself without bandages and I've lost another 1lb this week. I don't always manage to stay at the lower level, but the trend is downwards so I'm happy with that. Total lost on the low carb way so far = just over 2 stones - slowly, slowly ...

2nd meal: planning to be bacon and egg with some tomato and onions.

Thank you @AndBreathe for your info on biotin. I've been taking it everyday for the past 3- 4 months as my hair is getting thinner too. I've normally got a lot of hair, not thick, but loads and it's now gone alarmingly thin. It's like I'm in competition with our Rusty, a 40kg very hairy German Shep who only sheds once a year, trouble is the shedding last for 365 days! I've lost hair before when I've keto'd. I'm now thinking I'll pinch some of my husband's B12 till after Christmas. He has been taking them as his haemoglobin is low, yet his iron is sky high - bit of a conundrum but he's complicated. He's got lymphoma, and also haemochromatosis. He has been feeling loads better taking his fish oils and b12 supplements, the result has been so positive in his demeanour.

This morning was a hospital day for my husband, and we didn't get back home till after 12 noon. After settling down I had 2 slices of back bacon with a couple of chaffles and a mug of coffee frothed with cream.

Dinner was bits and bobs, a chicken thigh, one pork chipolata, handful of walnuts, and a very small portion of Bolognese.

4 squares of 90% Lindt chocolate.

Gosh @Antje77 you live such an exciting life. Hope your friend is now ok, what a horrible thing to go through at Christmas.

Jennifer, depending on where your B12 sits in range, it could be worth topping up a bit more? It really is noteworthy that neither of us was below range, but have benefited from a bit more. Of course it is near impossible to find where our personal sweet spots are for vitamins, minerals and hormones, but sometimes just being in range is not good enough for us as individuals.

Thanks for you reply. Sadly most of us need to react to symptoms instead of being proactive regarding vitamins and minerals, not very scientific though. This morning I've started taking a B12 supplement, and I've also been looking at nutritional yeast flakes, adding a spoonful here and there to ingredients, could be beneficial to boost dietary B12. Milk used to be my favourite drink and where I think I used get most of my B12, of course drinking milk needed to be stopped.

If you check out the Patrick holford you tube video I linked to yesterday one important thing he highlights based on research is that many over 60s find that their bodies struggle to use the B12 in food for some reason so need extra sub lingual B 12. @DJC3 this point may be of interest to you even though you eat a diet higher in B12. There also seems to be a benefit of using fish oils and B12 together.

Interesting points about B12 - more on that later. Treatment day so a drive across very windy bleak, crumbly Fen roads - basically the sea bed without Dutch engineers and pumps. Monstrous farming machinery spreading mud all over so a 4x4 is essential
1 mug of tea pre-treatment
1 travel mug of CWC there (made to my specs)
1.20 - MS roll, cold sausage, cold remains of ox cheek casserole and the 2 babybels +Adonis bar I’d left here plus a mug of tea; 1 Advent calendar cheese later - gave 3 to the son who bought if for me. Mexicana and red Leicester with black pepper - they're just wrong
Venison salad (sans cucumber) toasted pine nut topping - avocado oil in the vinaigrette - mushrooms, multi vit and water.

Today started way earlier than usual I was woken up around 5am by banging outside and a wild wind. Investigation in the dark found our empty parcel box was on the move so rescued and brought indoors. Tried to get back to sleep but then heard our recycling bin blown over and a look outside showed our recycling dancing around in the wind. So another rush outdoors in nightwear needed after which gave up and made hot cup of tea! So much earlier breakfast than usual and probably eaten more over the day as tired.
Early breakfast kefir and supplements then two boiled eggs
Lunch some cheese, sauerkraut and LC crackers I also had a third of a tangerine OH had rest gosh it was lovely and took me back to earlier Christmases
Mid afternoon third share of a KC cinnamon LC donut with OH
Dinner chicken casserole with LC pasta followed by LC crumble.

Em phoned a little while ago and invited me to join them in a Palestinian dinner, which they will bring to me. Of course, I accepted the invitation but I really don't know what a Palestinian dinner consists of. At present it would appear to be very minimal. I'm puzzled but intrigued. Wouldn't be surprised, knowing DIL, if it is something reflecting what Palestinians have available at the moment.

Still miles behind. I do have a smile when the fish plate pops up. I miss all the photos from the walks.
I'm about to "binge" record to try to catch up. I've been rather stressed out. I've been rushing to try to get all my present shopping, and it feels like I'm trying to be in 3 or 4 different places at once. Anyway, 2 December bed 7.9 FBG 8.2.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and coleslaw. Benecol dairy free.

L. After a morning, getting washing done plus shopping, a bit crustless quiche.

D. Cold cuts - ox tongue, roast deli pork, pork & apple, ham, pork & egg, vegetable salad, coleslaw. CC little chocolate pot.

3 December bed 8.1 FBG 7.7

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and coleslaw. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing. At swimming lesson with youngest grandson (who has been getting bullied again at school)

D. Chicken in a honey & mustard sauce (made with Skinny Food Co "honey" and wholegrain mustard, cream. Cauliflower fried rice, and a cobette. Campari & soda.
CC little chocolate pot.

Monday 4 December bed 7.9 FBG 7.7

B. TAG and still on 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and coleslaw. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing. I was straight to Aqua after school runs (youngest has been moved into another P6 class). I was equipped with my brand new Aqua weights (which Hubby bought, as he has no idea where he put my other set). I use large weights - a much more beneficial workout.

D. Leftover cold cuts. Deli roast pork, ox tongue, ham, pork and apple, pork & egg, vegetable salad, coleslaw. Gin & soda to calm my frazzled nerves. I made a bit more progress with the gift shopping but no further forward with the meal other than turkey, etc, is ordered.

Don't you remember the Smash Alien ads? I've had smash many years ago. With added butter, it is not too bad.

This gave me nightmares for a while as a child, I'd have to exit the room for a min when it came on.

Had a fry up for breakfast but went for mushrooms over the hash browns that were on offer, no to toast, and was pretty small.

Some cold cuts of meat later as a 'snack'

Not had any dinner but as I'm on tablets now I'd better come up with something to eat with them, really can't be bothered making anything complicated at this moment of time so no photos, will probably just eat a bunch of cheese and stuff to slowly get back into it.

Far Better bgs today 5-6 range, 2hrs post meal

Tuesday 5 December - bed 8.2 FBG 7.7. Youngest seems to have settled into his new class. He knows the teacher and some of his friends are in that class. There are 3 classes at his level. He was in one of the composites with the older kids, and they were the bullies.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with cheese and onion. Benecol dairy free.

L. A bit of crustless quiche.

D. NLCK pasta carbonara. Horrors! I've run out of little chocolate pots!

I finally got the tree up & my Christmas cards done.

Wednesday 6 December - bed 7.3 FBG 8.1

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with cheese and onion. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing

D. Chicken wings and alioli. Gin and soda.

Did I say Hubby managed to brain himself again on the corner of our brick sill while searching for an Amazon parcel. No A&E this time. I patched him up (although I may decide to fit him with protective head gear). DILs gift is showing no signs of dispatch despite being ordered weeks ago.

1st meal at 11:00 a.m. cold chicken, a small avocado, celery and 1 cherry tomato mixed with 1/2 packet ready cooked lentils leftover from last night.
Hoped body could cope with the carbs, but no, bg leapt from 7 to 10.

Friends birthday in a pub. I drank only mint tea and ate nothing (preplanned by eating at home first)

Feeling fluey again, but did make it to hairdressers. Have new look.. juries out!!

D:a very green frittata using up spinach and chard from the freezer. Added lots of cheese. Hubby had fries and cherry tomatoes on the side. 1 mini hot chocolate fondant. About 8g carbs but only so low because its very very tiny (lidl frozen). Bg only went 7 to 8.

Bg still running at a 7 or 8 baseline. Illness or stress, neither of which shows any sign of abating

I still had enough of tuesday's cheesy onion soup left for a meal, with a Greek yoghurt for dessert. :)

I'm also in need for favourite recipes with a duck or a turkey, looks like there will be a spontaneous Christmas meal with my neighbour-in-the-garden.
So if you know a perfect (and not too complicated) recipe, please share on my thread here: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/recipe-needed-for-turkey-or-duck-christmas-dinner.201362/
I have no experience with preparing a chicken, let alone ducks or turkeys!
