Dislikes
Spicy food which is too hot. Nasty people who have no idea on your life journey but feel the need to comment and be cruel.
Coffee and cream
Coffee and unsweetened almond milk
Ham cheese and tomato
Chicken roast, tomato and cheese.

My plans today changed at the last minute. I was up early ( around 5:30) had goat milk kefir then headed off.
Mid morning felt like lunchtime but the only things I could find to eat in daughters kitchen ( I was waiting for BT repair man) was a chunk of cheddar I topped with a spoonful of peanut butter.
Got home at proper lunchtime and treated myself to air fried beef skinny rib and a DGF crumble.
Dinner was 1/2 a huge gammon steak with salad of leaves, peppers, olives and my fermented red cabbage&ginger. Plus a stuffed mushroom.

Morning.Yesterday was an up and down emotional day for me which, just like the "old days" left me craving sweet things all day.
Evening @Margarettt

I blame food manufacturers for some of these cravings for sweet things. Why put sugar in savoury foods like baked beans, peanut butter or mayonnaise?
Unfortunately, it sells.

We're all different, but when I started my low carb journey way back in 2003, I went cold turkey on sweet foods and although I'd thought my tastes might change, I was unprepared for just how quickly that happened. Worth a try. Nothing lost if it doesn't work for you.

Even the cold cooked chicken breast I bought in M&S the other day had been cooked in "sugar glaze". I removed the skin and just had to hope not much had soaked into the skin.
A rub of butter would have produced am equally nice looking finish

Unforgivable!

Even our professional chefs and food writers persist in adding increasing amounts of honey, maple syrup or caster sugar to their savoury dishes. This is obviously harmful to diabetics and isn't doing the rest of us any favours either. To claim it's a treat for a special occasion is not good enough. We're not all celebrating every day of the week!

Protein drink as not been hungry, maybe it's the medication, maybe not.

Handful of pistachios.

Cauliflower blitzed up with onion, garlic, brussels sprout, various seasonings, refried with 2 chopped up sausages in it.

My neighbour-in-the-garden gave my phone number to another neighbour because he wasn't home and she needed a ride from the bus stop (6 km away) because the wind was too strong to use her bike.
Picking her up earned me some fresh eggs, so I had the same peanut soup as yesterday, but this time with a small egg, and I finally baked the pork belly pieces to perfection. :joyful:
Too bad I'm not sure at what temperature or how long I baked them for, I couldn't find the flashlight and the oven is in the dark barn, so next time I'll have to rely on luck again. :hilarious:

I'm also looking for yummy, creamy recipes for low carb hot chocolate without sweeteners, I promised to make it this weekend.
If you have a good recipe, please share on my thread about it: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/low-carb-hot-chocolate-no-sweeteners.202251/#post-2678088

Another lovely day with a walk on the beach and some pickleball. I even got the floors scrubbed.
B. Sausage, egg, arugula and tomato on L/c bread
L. Chicken thigh while walking out of the house, not ideal, I should have sat and eaten properly.
D. Chicken sausage and broccoli feta salad.

l/c crackers in the oven so has been quite a productive day.

Nodding my head up and down at this. Maybe a future plan. For now I'm still getting over giving up nicotine lozengers so as long as my carbs are under 20 I sigh with relief.

I'm at home recovering from surgery and think the fact that I'm eating lunch every day might be more about filling time than hunger. I rarely eat lunch on work days. I do want/enjoy it though so maybe my body needs the fuel. I don't suppose it matters if it doesn't change the numbers.

Yesterdays food-
Breakfast- Two slices Heylo bread with two sliced cherry tomatoes and melted cheese.
Lunch- 50g fried pakchoi with a chicken thigh and an egg
Dinner- spinach and smoked salmon omelette follow by ketorama chocolate cake and a splash of cream.

Hi All
Yesterday brekkie usual slice LC toast and copious tea.
Lunch was the remainder of the leek & broccoli broth and a sliver of Shropshire blue crumbled in just for decadence…and protein..and really worked!
Supper was defrosted chilli which was really one and a half so my portion was bolstered by two large baked mushrooms chopped in.
Today same brekkie.
Lunch will be eggs probably scrambled with a bit of grated Parmesan.
Supper will be lightly spiced baked chicken breast with broccoli or cauli cheese and some dressed leaves that need using up.
I often think following this way of eating would have been so much harder when the boys were here. It wasn’t unusual for me to cook two different meals or at least tweak them heavily. Mr P and youngest son big carbers hated any veg (Mr P still hates veg but has dialed down the carbs but eats lots of fruit, son otoh married a vegetarian and is now converted.
Another thing I suspect there is sugar in some handwashes. Current one in my bathroom is Carex with Shea butter but has a really sweet smell so don’t trust it before blood testing. Won’t buy it again.

Breakfast: bacon and eggs.

2nd meal: fish cakes made with hot smoked salmon, onion and defrosted potato. Should have put more salt in but quite edible.

I've developed a new pain which makes it difficult even to stand up, never mind walk. I'm hoping it will be temporary so will just take some paracemol shortly and hope to feel a bit more comfortable. Trouble is - the tea "station" and fridge are on the other side of the room from my chair - only about 12 feet away, but right now quite a thought to attempt. That means I've not had enough fluid today yet, but will have to just brave it and make some tea and take pills. This is why I ended up with fish cakes - the ingredients were close to hand and I could make the mixture sitting in my chair. I did have to stand up to cook them, but did manage that allright without moving too much.
