What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Just curious @IanBish , because your roast dinners and curries always look delicious, do you know roughly how many carbs are in say the lamb shank dinner you posted yesterday? I would personally struggle to eat that many roast potatoes or as much rice as you have with your curries, on my low carb diet. I restrict my carbs to less than 40g/day to keep me from going too high. I realise that people vary, what carb count per day do you allow yourself?

Anyway my food today (total around 25g carbs!):

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and another carb killa bar.
Dinner: carbonara made with LC pasta.

Edit for typos.

There were about 18g carbs in the lamb shank (well the gravy mainly). There were only two smallish potatoes, cut up, so it looked more than there actually were. The rice, when I have it, is about 30g carbs. Usually I try to limit carbs to 50g a day, but sometimes I have a bit more, but often I have less.

Today for lunch I fancied some dirty bread so I had a couple of regular white baps with bacon in. They were nice, but my blood sugar was 9.1 after two hours, so that wasn't good. I bought some bake-at-home high protein rolls, so I'll see how I do with those next time.

So for dinner I was fairly low carb, and had a defrosted, home made salmon and prawn madras on a bed of bejewelled cauliflower rice (fried with mushrooms and red peppers).

Ah thanks for that, you kidded me by chopping up the potatoes! Yes I will approach 50g on high days and holidays too but omelette days often I only eat around 25g.

Breakfast two poached eggs with mushrooms
Lunch tin of sardines in olive oil on low carb toast followed by four squares of 100% chocolate
Dinner tried some low carb high protein lasagne sheets for the first time. I was a bit nervous as not cheap £6.99 for pack but only needed a third of the pack ( 2 sheets) to do a generous lasagne for two ( carb content each sheet was 3g of carbs) I soaked the two sheets in a glass container using boiled water to start and left for much of day before straining and then assembled lasagne and cooked. No bechemel just mixed two eggs with double cream as a sauce and generous grated vintage cheddar chesse. Verdict from both of us was it tasted like real pasta , if we remember still what real pasta tastes like after 8 years!
photos of whole lasagne and then my portion served with salad

Followed by low carb brownie and spoon of yoghurt.

Where were the low carb lasagne sheets from @shelley262 ? I wouldn’t mind trying them. I’ve tried cabbage, courgette ribbons, sliced cheese, deli sliced chicken etc. they were ok but didn’t knock my socks off. The best has been the DIetDoctor keto lasagna but it’s a pain to make and I can’t be bothered most of the time.

Today I had coconut porridge with blueberries for breakfast.
Lunch was the rest of yesterdays’s h/b egg mashed with cottage cheese and mustard, on Schneiderbrot protein bread with some sauerkraut and avocado on the side. Choc chia pudding to follow.
Dinner- 2 lamb chops, 1/2 a lamb kidney, stir fried broccoli stalks, peppers and mushrooms. Some Montezuma’s AB to follow.
Forgot photos of all except the porridge:

www.ketochefs.co.uk I ordered the lasagne sheets as I was buying low carb bread and wanted free shipping! I also ordered enough low carb bread to get the two free loaves so have plenty in freezer so it's good I really like their bread!
I feel I could serve the lasagne to carb eaters and they wouldn't know unless told it was low carb.

Yesterday I had the 2 Tesco sausages (2.1g carbs) with cabbage and cauli plus a small amount of gravy (10g) Then a sandwich of ham (2 small slaices of no added sugar bread (18g carbs). Then I had 3 Werthers sugar free sweets. 87g carbs per 100g! My level was higher this morning so they are out now. Todays food is scrambled eggs and later 2 of the sausages. Have a good Wednesday all. :)

I'm sure this cold weather is making me hungrier than usual
Breakfast kefir then mushrooms and a poached egg on one slice of low carb toast
Lunch one slice of low carb toast with home made mackerel pate ( thank you @DJC3 for suggesting putting some horseradish sauce into the pate I would not have thought about it but it's delicious and of course then noticed for first time on the jar of my m and s old fashioned horse radish that it's suggested for smoked fish - I've only ever used with beef! Wonder what it's like with smoked salmon?
Mid afternoon had a delivery earlier of low carb goodies and succumbed to low carb coffee and walnut cake - normally successful in avoiding snacks but not today.
Dinner slow cooked beef served with sprouts and glass of red.
I ordered a sensor today - not used one in a while - just been fingerpricking and numbers a bit higher recently and hba1c next month so time to take stock!

Good to know, thank you. Do you think ketochefs bread is better than the Low Carb Food Co?

We are away in Suffolk for a friend’s funeral. Breakfast at premier inn was 2 poached eggs, 1 bacon and some mushrooms.
Buffet tea at wake - crudities and a teaspoon of hummus and a couple of small chicken satay sticks. I’d taken the precaution of bringing a l/c cheese roll too, in case it was a total carb fest. The hotel kindly put my roll in their fridge overnight.
Dinner at a local pub was steak with broccoli instead of the chips and onion rings. Couple of glasses of Malbec.
