To make Alex's Falafel Pita Burger, you'll need:
  • 3/4 cup garbanzo beans
  • 3/4 cup lentils
  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp minced jalapeño chile pepper
  • 1/4 cup egg whites
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh oregano
  • 3/4 cups fresh bread crumbs Salt (optional) to taste Freshly-ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 dash chili flakes or to taste
  • 4 pita bread rounds cut in half

Method

  • Cook the garbanzo beans lentils and brown rice in separate pots according to package directions
  • Drain each and set aside.
