Ingredients
To make Alternative Falafels, you'll need:
  • 200 c Garbanzo beans; cooked -drained and rinsed
  • 100 sl Crustless firm wheat bread; -torn into pieces
  • 033 c Water
  • 100 tb All purpose flour
  • 050 ts Baking soda
  • 300 cl Garlic; minced
  • 100 Egg white
  • 200 tb Parsley; chopped
  • 050 ts Salt
  • 025 ts Black pepper
  • 025 ts Cumin
  • 050 ts Tumeric
  • 025 ts Basil
  • 025 ts Marjoram
  • 100 tb Tahini or olive oil
  • Cayenne pepper to taste Flour for coating falafel

Method

  • 1. Puree the garbanzos in a food processor or in a blender.
  • 2. Add the remaining ingredients except for flour and mix well. The mixture will be soft.
  • 3. Form the mixture into 1-inch balls or patties and coat with flour.
  • 4. Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 15 - 20 minutes.
  • 5. To make a falafel snadwich cut a piece of pita bread in half and 2 - 3 falafel balls or patties in the open halves.
  • 6.Add lettuce alfalfa sprouts sliced tomatoes green onions and low fat Yogurt Dressing or Tahini Dressing.
