Ingredients
To make Sweet And Sour Meatballs, you'll need:
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup dry unseasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium beef broth
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 dashes hot pepper sauce
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme leaves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly-ground black pepper Sweet and Sour Sauce (see below) Finely-chopped parsley SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE
  • 1 cup reduced-sodium beef broth
  • 3
  • 1/2 tsp Equal For Recpies = (or
  • 12 packets Equal sweetener or
  • 1/2 cup Equal Spoonful)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon-style mustard
  • 2 tsp tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp grated orange peel

  • 3 dashes red pepper sauce - (to
  • 3) Salt to taste Freshly-ground black pepper to taste

Method

  • Mix all ingredients except Sweet and Sour Sauce and parsley; shape into 20 meatballs and place in baking pan
  • Bake meatballs in preheated 350 degrees oven until browned and no longer pink in center about 20 minutes.
