To make Tamale Pie, you'll need:
  • BISCUIT TOPPING
  • 1/2 cup white or yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg white slightly beaten
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 jalapeño pepper seeded chopped
  • 1 tsp baking powder FILLING Nonstick cooking spray as needed
  • 1 green bell pepper chopped
  • 3/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 2 garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 1
  • 1/2 cups canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can pinto beans - (15 oz) rinsed drained
  • 1/4 lb cooked ground turkey breast
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp freshly-ground black pepper

Method

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  • Spray 9-inch pie plate with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.
