Sounds like this could be a very useful thread. :)
If you or @Rachox (or someone else) starts it, be sure to give it a descriptive title for easy finding, something like 'Foods to bring to hospital' or such.
I’ll sort something out tomorrow, off to bed now!

Morning all. Commiserations to @Rachox, hope everything goes well. Yesterdays food. No bf. Lunch...Shepherds pie (but left the topping) ith broccoli and carrots. Tea.... tin pink salmon with mayo and chopped up gherkins.Still got high readings. But am going to try the seated exercises to see if that helps. I'd kept my carbs low so didn't expect such high readings. Sometimes I feel I'm banging my head against a brick wall! :banghead: Have a good day folks.

Just had breakfast of left-over veg from last night with eggs tucked in plus 2 RyVita. Just over 15 g carbs.

2nd meal was going to be a fish pie using celeriac mash and hard boiled eggs. However, no celeriac or eggs avialable in the shops so that's not going to happen. Just have to be salmon and salad, I suppose - not very exciting but it will keep me going.

Sunday 22 October - bed 7.9 FBG 6.9 (BGs seem a bit all over the place right now). No swimming lesson this week due to the school holiday.

B. TAG and 1 slice of SRSLY toast with 2 scrambled eggs. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing.

D. Campari and soda. Roast chicken breast (half returned to fridge - too big). Green beans and a cobette. CC little chocolate pot with raspberries.

Monday 23 October - bed 7.7 FBG 6.9. Last day of the school holidays, but I still have an early Aqua class.

B. TAG and a cheese triangle.

L. After Aqua (pool was great - like a warm bath!) A bit of crustless quiche. Benecol dairy free.

D. Leftover cold cuts. Deli pork, ham, ox tongue, pork & egg, pork & apple, coleslaw, vegetable salad. CC Little chocolate pot.

That sounds very scary, @PenguinMum. I'm glad you recovered quickly.

After yesterday's 28 hour fast, I was down 0.3kg this morning, I could very well be up again in the morning, such is the rocky road to weight loss, so long as the projection is down I'm happy.

11ish had coffee and cream

First bite to eat was at about 1.30pm, we had an early dinner today. Roast chicken breast, roast swede, tenderstem broccoli, gravy and TWO Yorkshire puds.

Tea was a small piece of Castillo blue cream cheese with a handful of almonds.

2 squares of 90% Lindt chocolate.

Been doing some research after recently hearing about lupin flour on this forum. I came across a recipe for Yorkshire puddings, I just had to have a go. Can't remember whether I stuck rigidly to the recipe, but my version was 20g lupin flour, 30g plain flour, 2 eggs, abt 100g milk, and salt. The ingredients made 8 Yorkshires. The mixture was poured into very hot bun tins with really hot coconut oil in the cups. My husband couldn't tell the difference. I think they were quite close and will defo make them again. I put the recipe through an app (Cronometer) which allows me to add a custom recipe. Each Yorkshire has 49 Calories, 3.4g carbs, 1.9g fat plus the coconut oil. The carbs fitted in with my carb quota and didn't cause any BG issues. Traditional Yorkshires have been off my menu for such a long time.

I'm also experimenting with making a lupin flour sourdough starter. Quite pleased today to find it's started to ferment after just 3 days. Will let you know how the low carb lupin sourdough bread turns out.

Todays carbs, 20.3g
@ziggy_w was a big fan of lupin flour, but, at the time, it proved impossible to get here (@ziggy_w is in Germany). She made fantastic looking bread. Where has ziggy gone?

@Rachox - that is lousy luck. I've never been an in-patient while I was diabetic but, bearing in mind how poor hospital food can be, I did get food brought in. Fortunately, all my family was alive then. It would be more of a problem now. My last stint, which was 16 days, I had a room next to the senior nurses station, and they had a fridge. They kindly let me store foodstuffs in there.

Tuesday 24 October - bed 7.4 FBG 6.9 (I'm not as far behind as I thought). Schools went back today.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with cream cheese. Benecol dairy free. Hubby was feeling a bit off colour and slept most of the day. I was being very quiet!

L. Nothing.

D. An ostrich burger sitting on a Portobello mushroom. Slice of Emmental, lettuce, tomatoes, 1/2 avocado, coleslaw, mayo. It was a very nice burger. Needed seasoning but otherwise very enjoyable. CC little chocolate pot with raspberries.

Back to running about all over the place again! @shelley262- your holiday food looks fab!

Once the boys were home, at least I was able to relax with Corrie, Bake off, and Masterchef. Joy!

Had coffee and cream about 11am

Ate a couple of picks of skin from yesterday's roast chicken.

Early dinner at 4pm, easy cook butter chicken curry, sauteed cauli rice with butter.

So far today, under 12g carbs. Room for some 90% Lindt chocolate later, maybe with a G&T.

Been catching up with some of your news today
@maglil55 you always sound so busy school holidays or not! Your aqua sounds fun Im sad we no longer have a good local pool I miss swimming and loved having opportunity to swim on my hols
@Antje77 on topic of swimming I admire your cold water swims - that takes some courage
@PenguinMum your health scare sounded dramatic and hope you are fully recovered now
@JenniferM55 admire how well you've coped whilst coping with your husband having a major operation well done you and even completing a fast and being creative with Lupin flour too...
@Rachox sorry to hear that you need the operation yet again but pleased it's getting sorted for you. If I was going into hospital id take low carb treats to add to the bits from meals I may be able to have. Maybe take the cheese or ham out from sandwiches and eat with LC bread or crackers or my biggest fallback bags of nuts. In airport on way home a bag of nuts was my only option.
@DJC3 hope you're enjoying your hols your food looks good. Hope you've managed some reasonable weather this week
@MrsA2 admire all the dancing you do and the help you're giving to family with cleaning and decorating
@Annb sounds difficult with food supply situation must make it so much harder to plan what you'd like to eat especially when you are coping with your health conditions take care
@RosemaryJackson don't be disheartened it's tough simply because although food and drink have huge impact they are not the only raiser or lowerer of blood sugars. My main blood sugar raiser despite eating low carb full time is stress without a doubt and working on managing my stress through things like mindfulness, breaks and gentle exercise like walks in nature and walking after my main meal are the things that work the best for me.
I'm sure I've missed some people's news but had a lot of catching up!
Today's food back to upping my fermented food
Breakfast kefir
Lunch kimchi with extra garden tomatoes ( last few I harvested were green before my hols), sauerkraut with extra olives, a few pieces of cheese and three lc seeded crackers followed by a couple of strawberries and yoghurt
IMG_20231025_115734.jpg

Dinner hm Bolognese made with pork mince and glass of red wine pudding LC autumn crumble and yoghurt edit forgot to add my three squares of 90% chocolate....

Are those crackers home made? They look great, like the M&S ones.
I agree with you about stress ( and poor sleep which is related I guess) being a definite cause of high bg.

Todays activity was archery which was great fun and we were happy that 13yo granddaughter got the highest score in our group of 12. Particularly as the chap at the end seemed to think he was an expert so the whole group smiled discretely when it transpired he was beaten by a young girl!
Breakfast was boiled eggs and srsly toast
Lunch out: bunless bacon cheeseburger ( called deconstructed by the waiter, sounds much flasher) with salad and coleslaw.
Evening nibbles of antipasti and red wine.

Nothing to eat or drink before my annual check up incl HbA1c this morning. Will be interesting to see what that is as I have been exercising more and lost some weight since giving up wine and dark chocolate. So what did I eat when getting home at around 10.30am? Stick of celery and some snack peppers (home grown) with humous. Watercress. Two boiled organic eggs with a dollop of mayonnaise, slice of smoked salmon and half an avocado. 1 slice of toast with sainsburys low(er) sugar marmalade. Fresh coffee, org semi skimmed milk, 1 sugar. Metformin.

I wish - they are Olinas simply seed crackers 1.2g of carbs for a portion of 4 crackers. Love them but not cheap especially on amazon
So I definitely limit them. I've found them cheaper from sow and arrow and from Hey lo and previously from Srslyl as part of a big order.
Edit to add it would be much better to make them and I used to - think I stopped because of all expensive ingredients and some seeds have short dates but would be good to go back to some more baking.

These look great, do they have a decent use by date? I’m thinking if I got a two box bundle, I could have one box for my hospital admission and save the other for Christmas.
