Morning all. Well, teatime yesterday didn't work out well, I stupidly had a buttered white roll with ham and lots of salad and it repaid me with awful heartburn. I buy things for my grandson that I don't/shouldn't eat, then give in. Should have had my piece of cheese but sometimes you fancy something different? It put my bg up too. Next week it's my A1c blood test and I'm going to ask if there is something else other than Metformin I can take or even try without. I'm sure that it is affecting my muscles. We'll see. I have 2 chicken drumsticks, 2 boiled eggs and salad for todays lunch and a piece of cheese! for tea. Let's see if I can be grown-up about this. Have a great weekend everyone.

Breakfast: Bacon, egg and a buttered RyVita.

2nd meal will be: Cullen skink again - I have some smoked haddock left over to make it with.

3rd meal (if there is one): I have a lamb steak that Neil bought for me yesterday.

Meantime, I have work to do - catch-up washing, catch-up dishes and pans, low-carb baking, soup making. If I can get that all done, I'll be doing well. Delayed this morning by the worst nosebleed I've had in years so I'm running late before I've even started.

10ish kefir with my supplements
Then Off to pick up our very welcome doggy guest
2ish when back had mushrooms fried in butter and two fried eggs our doggy family member tucked into two cold boiled eggs
6 mile forest walk together built up an appetite
5ish salmon and peas plus a couple of hm new potato chips followed by warmed LC blondie with yoghurt meanwhile our poodle pal tucked into free range chicken clearly enjoyed he's now snoozing

I'm envious of that dog!

Yesterday
Started with a hard boiled egg and an avocado with hm lc dressing.

Descended into lots of tasting as I prepped for evening visitors.
Starter was prawns and smoked salmon with citrus fruits and melon. I kept my portion reasonable.
Main was chicken and chorizo with rice, again only a small portion for me.
Did have some grilled fruits for dessert and a lot of cheeses.
Much wine was drunk, and some Scotch.
Some very good chocolate truffles.

Good company and eating later than usual
Didn't feel good in the night, sweaty and indigestion.
Did make it to early yoga.
Today is a new day

Didn't do much of the list I'd made for myself. Dishes have only just gone into the dishwasher, haven't done the washing, only just put the soup on. Too busy with my frustration at my mobile phone issue to think about much else and then, in any case, couldn't stand up for any time at all. When I could, I found that Neil was using the hallway as a painting workshop (stripping and painting wooden skirting boards to be fixed into place after his decorating is done) so I couldn't easily get past the tressles and the vacuum cleaner he had left there to get the leeks that I needed from the back porch fridge. I only got around to managing that about 2.30 although I wasn't hungry, but I assume I will be eventually. At 3 pm I was looking out of the window, expecting Em to come from school but she didn't and it was only then that I realised that today is Saturday.

Eventually there will be a pot of Cullen Skink ready for whenever I get hungry. I suppose that's some kind of achievement for a day like today. Forget the lamb for now.

Cooper -our doggy guest - again stuck to a fairly carnivorous diet of boiled eggs and free range chicken although he seemed very interested in our hm curry but I decided it may not be good for his digestion!
I ate
10ish small portion of kefir with my supplements
Excitement when our postie arrived at 11 with some low carb cakes from Deliciously Guilt Free - they had made an error with my order delivered on Thursday but as soon as pointed out Dan ,the owner, was on it and sent out replacements plus, as an apology, he'd included a free bar of his low carb chocolate - so of course it had to be tested with a coffee before going out for our hike. Absolutely loved the milk chocolate bar BUT unfortunately I couldn't buy it in future as for me it was addictive and found myself demolishing half the bar throughout the day! It's clearly not going to last long. I even have issues with 90% chocolate so really need to stick to more easily regulated 100% stuff.
2ish fried some mushrooms and two eggs in butter with LC toast then more chocolate through afternoon
5ish hm LC chicken curry with LC wrap and glass of red wine followed by LC chocolate brownie.

Second day of mixed spicy veggies, sweet soy sauce (only a little) and fresh chilli pepper mushrooms, and peanut sauce. The meal was heavy on the onions this time, veggies are ridiculously expensive at the moment so I'm stretching everything with onions and the guinea pigs are mainly getting cheap carrots.

My dogs nor the two sleepover dogs have ever shown any signs of digesion issues after foods so they happily cleaned my plate afterwards. Funny to see how one of the sleepover dogs was really going for the very spicy peanut sauce while the rest didn't particularly care for it.

Today
Yoga, fasted
11:00 ff greek with seeds and some cooked fruit (pear, apple, plums) Did test. 7.5 before, 9.2 after an hour, 7.0 after 2. Surprising but pleasing

18:00 a mixed plate, some prawns and salmon and melon, a drumstick, cheeses, seedy crackers. Ff greek with chopped walnuts and 1 sq 85%.

Suddenly 2 full hours later feeling very over full and uncomfortable. Wish I understood why I don't feel full when eating but only so much later.

Friday
Just black coffee until late lunch at 3:00pm, which was ham, cheese, coleslaw and black decaff coffee.
dinner chicken, chiorizo, roasted peppers, cauliflower and garlic, sugar free tonic water with lemon slice.

Saturday
Breakfast as yesterday
lunch greek yogurt, walnuts and black decaff coffee
dinner ham squash and leek soup, mineral water

stuck to 5 hour window for eating fast keto. Feel fine lower BGs

Will eat a bit more in a bigger window tomorrow, just to confuse my metabolism.

The elderly King Charles Spaniel that DIL rescued from being permanently caged some years ago decided that he enjoyed chilli peppers. Strange little dog, he would always beg for peppers if he could smell that DIL was cooking with them and, occasionally stole them if any were left within his reach. It didn't seem to have done him any harm - he lived to a good old age.

Just had breakfast: bacon and onion omelette. Pills to follow with yoghurt to get them down. 3rd cup of tea shortly.

No point kidding myself that I will get around to a third meal today, so main meal will be lamb steak. I think it is what we used to call a chump chop, but I could be wrong. Might have a few onions and mushrooms with it.

First , I have to do some baking. I have a feeling that someone might be dropping in unannounced this afternoon. Not sure, but the way she was talking yesterday makes me suspect. She helps out various friends with driving lessons on a Sunday and often does end up getting them to drive here. These folk she helps are usually either Indian (Hindu/began) or Syrian (Moslem/Halal). I can't make anything vegan - don't have ingredients for that, but I will make something vegetarian and they can take it or leave it. Reminds me of the time she brought out a Canadian friend at lunch time quite a few years ago now - no problem; I had 2 pots of soup on the go anyway and home made bread. When Offered lunch the Canadian fellow told me he was coeliac and had other allergies. So - no bread - he couldn't take dairy products, so no butter anyway. One soup was minestrone (pasta and beans were out), the other was pea and ham (ham was another no no). Embarrassing not to have anything else to offer. These days I would just think it was their own fault for not warning me.

What to bake for today, though. Maybe some brownies and some cheese and caramelised onion scones. Have to see how it goes.

Hi All back again. Since Christmas I have been in a food rut and cooking has been a real chore. I have about two weeks of suppers that get recycled. Its never been easy as Mr PM and I have most meals adapted to suit both of us even before LC. Anyway I have become a lazy cook the older I get.
So back to Friday. Brekkie is always slice of LC toast butter and copious tea. Bread is now Warburtons. Rustless wholemeal (7g slice) as my Sainsburys doesnt fo HiLo anymore. Lunch is usually a quick cold grab from fridge, variously meat, cheese, tomato, cucumber, pickled onions, Higgidy bites or eggs. Always followed with a cup of tea and sometimes a Fruit Shortcake biscuit! Supper was Moules Mariniere with a companying bread for Mr PM.
Saturday same brekkie and lunch supper was Tandoori King Prawns (4) and cauli bhajje Gave into 1 popadom.
Today same brekkie. Lunch will be fried eggs and a tomato.
Supper will be separately stir fried chicken and mixed peppers with Famita seasoning, accompanying flatbreads for Mr PM to roll with a companying sour cream, salsa and guacamole. I will have a bowl of it minus the bread.
