To make New Orleans Shrimp Creole, you'll need:

  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup diced celery

  • 1/2 cup diced green pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup sliced okra
  • 4 cups crushed canned tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium tomato paste
  • 1 cup low-fat low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp celery seed
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 lb deveined peeled large shrimp Salt to taste Freshly-ground black pepper to taste

Method

  • In a large stockpot or kettle heat the white wine over medium heat until it boils slightly.
