Ingredients
To make Pastitso, you'll need:
  • 8 oz uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1/2 cup cholesterol-free egg substitute
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 lb lean ground lamb beef or turkey
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1 can tomato sauce - (8 oz)
  • 3/4 tsp dried mint leaves
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano leaves
  • 1/2 tsp freshly-ground black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp reduced-calorie margarine
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1
  • 1/2 cups fat-free (skim) milk
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Method

  • Cook pasta according to package directions omitting salt
  • Drain and transfer to medium bowl; stir in egg substitute and nutmeg.
