To make Southwestern Sloppy Joes, you'll need:
  • 1 lb lean ground round
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 can diced tomatoes and green chilies - (10 oz) undrained
  • 1 can no-salt-added tomato sauce - (8 oz)
  • 4 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 9 whole-wheat hamburger buns

Method

  • Heat large nonstick skillet over high heat
  • Add beef onion celery and water
  • Reduce heat to medium
  • Cook and stir 5 minutes or until meat is no longer pink
  • Drain fat.
