According to a group of doctors in Norfolk, children with diabetes and other long-term conditions could be being let down by the National Health Service. The region faces problem with diabetes treatment, according to reports, because there are not enough specialist diabetes nurses at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
NHS Norfolk have made it clear that there are plans to spend extra money on diabetes services, a much-needed plan that will help solve some of the problems. Norfolk has a particularly high concentration of children with type 1 diabetes .
NHS diabetes care in the area has faced cuts, with outpatient appointments and support for schools all being reduced. Specialist diabetes nurses are in short supply in the area.
