The Leading UK diabetes charity has taken a novel approach to spreading the message about type 1 diabetes .
Available both online and via mobile phone, a new Diabetes UK film entitled: “The Bendy Bus” has been created to help educate people about type 1 diabetes. The clip, just one minute long, will help to change public perception about the condition.
The short film features actors with diabetes riding on a bus. Schoolchildren react to a boy that is administering insulin, and the film ends with a strong message. “The Bendy Bus” is clearly aimed at young people, but it is a relevant film for people both within and outside the diabetes community . Spreading the message virally means more people will get to see the film and understand more about diabetes .

Liz Edmond of the Diabetes UK Web Team was reported as commenting: “The Bendy Bus viral video is edgy and very different to anything we’ve done before. We felt it was good to try a new way of telling young people that if you have Type 1 diabetes you can still lead an ordinary life.”
