Pre-diabetes, also known as metabolic syndrome, is one of the greatest threats to healthcare the world over. An obesity epidemic is leading to a huge number of developing people with type 2 diabetes . However, type 2 diabetes can be a lifestyle condition that simple changes can lower the risk of developing.
The five key risk factors for type 2 diabetes may all increase chances of developing the condition. By isolating and making improvements in all key areas, the risk of type 2 diabetes will fall considerably.
Risks include eating polyunsaturated fats, smoking, excess alcohol consumption, eating trans fats, fatty and sugary foods, and being overweight. A recent study by the Harvard School of Public Health indicated that these lifestyle factors may account for nine out of ten diabetes cases .
