Novo Nordisk, one of the leading global companies in the diabetes care industry, have announced their plans for a string of outreach events occurring throughout a number of cities in America. The events will remove diabetes education from its usual clinical setting into a much more supportive and fun environment. The programs have been developed in association with DIVABETIC, a diabetes outreach organisation.
One aspect of the programs will be called ‘Makeover your Diabetes,’ and it will bring together beauty and fashion experts, as well as diabetes educators, to encourage women in their lives with diabetes.
Commenting on the motivational events, the associate vice president of medical affairs at Novo Nordisk, Alan Moses, reportedly said: “The majority of people diagnosed with diabetes are living with inadequate control of their disease, a fact that can be attributed in large part to the difficulty of making the lifestyle modifications necessary to manage the disease. Divabetic – Makeover Your Diabetes responds to a critical need in the community to take a novel approach to diabetes education by inspiring improved diabetes care and encouraging women to make healthier lifestyle choices.”
The programs will kick off in New York, before moving to New Orleans, Dallas, Los Angeles, Cleveland and Washington DC.
