Early signs and symptoms of diabetes can seem to be caused by entirely unrelated events, leading many diabetics and pre-diabetics unaware of what they are suffering from. Healthcare experts and advocates of early diabetes prevention claim that any of the major symptoms should be investigated early to avoid problems further down the line. The earlier the diagnosis, they say, the better.
Symptoms for diabetes can be as minor as a dry mouth in the night, and the need to urinate more frequently. Diabetics may remain unaware of their condition until a more serious complication makes them take notice. Type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes share similar symptoms, but both conditions require immediate attention.
The president of medicine and science at the American Diabetes Associatio, Dr. Larry Deeb, reportedly commented: “Regrettably, both can happen at all ages. Obesity is everywhere, including younger kids. A lack of activity is everywhere, including younger kids. Fat is insulin-resistant.”
