Kmart, the enormous American superstore chai, has pledged its allegiance to a key American diabetes associatio, and stepped up its level of support for the diabetes community .
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has revealed the reinforced Kmart pledge. The supermarket chain has agreed to become a National Strategic Partner of the ADA, with the aim of raising at least $1 million to support the charity .
Kmart and the ADA are already in associatio, and the company has already raised over $900,000 through an in-store campaign. Kmart customers will now be asked to donate to the ADA. The company are also forming teams to help ‘step out to fight diabetes.’
Kmart has 1,400 stores worldwide, an ideal distribution network. The chair of the board at the ADA, Darlene Cai, reportedly commented: “Kmart’s commitment to the diabetes community should not go unnoticed, particularly as the company embarks on such an ambitious fund-raising goal. Kmart recognizes the need to take a bold stance in the fight against diabetes. Its action to mobilize the support of all of its stores across the country to support ADA’s mission and raise awareness about the seriousness of diabetes speaks volumes.”
