Road show highlights risk of diabetes

The past five years have seen the number of people with type 2 diabetes doubling, yet many people with at risk of developing diabetes do not realise. Type 2 diabetes affects people as they grow older, and the disease is linked to lifestyle factors including obesity .

The Inside Out presenter on BBC Inside, Jo Good, has teamed up with leading diabetes charity Diabetes UK on road shows around the country. The team of diabetes specialists tested blood glucose levels to find out their diabetes risks .

Jo was surprised to find that one in every seven of those tested on the day had elevated blood glucose levels and risked diabetes diagnosis . If diabetes is left untreated, it can lead to diabetes complications such as amputation, blindness and heart disease.
