According to diabetes reports from American, a special new curriculum has been launched to help stem increasing diabetes prevalence amongst American Indian children .
The fresh new program has been developed by a team of health experts, tribal leaders and educators all over the country. The teachers will work with Indian students all over New Mexico and other states to incorporate the curriculum.
The initiative is called the Diabetes Education in Tribal Schools project. Experts in the field claim that the disease is an epidemic amongst American Indians, and that prevention has to begin with the children.
The curriculum has already been tested in tribal schools with positive results.
