A regular intake of turmeric can help with weight loss for people living with type 2 diabetes, new research has claimed.
A recent study has found that the active compound in turmeric is associated with weight loss results among people with type 2 diabetes.
Known as curcumin, this compound can also help with weight loss in people living with prediabetes, the findings have revealed.

As part of the meta-analysis, the team of researchers examined the findings of 14 clinical trials looking at how turmeric or curcumin supplementation can benefit people with type 2 diabetes.
They discovered that the participants who take supplements of turmeric or curcumin lost on average 4.2 pounds of weight.
Experts have said turmeric and curcumin supplementation should not be used as a standalone solution for weight loss, despite the potential benefits.
According to the researchers, turmeric and curcumin supplementation is unlikely to produce significant weight loss results on its own.
People already on diabetes medications should consult with a healthcare professional before adding turmeric supplements to their weight loss management efforts.

Weight loss jabs such as Mounjaro, Ozempic and Wegovy are currently on the rise. Gaining global attention for their efficacy in promoting weight loss, these GLP-1 medications were typically created to treat type 2 diabetes.
However, the drugs are now being used by almost 12% of the US population to manage their weight, mainly women aged between 50 and 64.
Previous research has found that weight loss jabs help people lose roughly 12% of their body weight. Diarrhoea and nausea are common side effects of these weight loss injections.
