According to a Canadian diabetes study conducted on mice, blueberry juice could have a positive affect on preventing diabetes in humans. The research team, at the University of Montreal, found that blueberry juice prevented the spread of illness in mice.
The mice were given type 2 diabetes, the more common form of diabetes often brought on by obesity . Type 2 diabetes is linked with a number of complications, some of which can be deadly.
A pharmacology professor who worked on the study, Pierre Haddad, reportedly commented: "This has great potential. Our discovery is major because it opens the door to a lot of possibilities for helping people with obesity and diabetes ."
