A photography exhibition exploring the everyday lives of five young women with type 1 diabetes will open in Coventry next week.

Running from the 12th to the 17th of July, Young and Type 1 will be open each day from 12 to 4 pm at the LTB showrooms in Coventry City Centre.

The show is described as: “a photography exhibition that explores the lived experiences, the highs and lows of management within the rich complexity of everyday life for us, five young women with Type 1 Diabetes. This while showing the difficult struggles that we, and many others face and share also shows our journey to loving and laughing with type 1. By bringing our stories together we show how this often isolating experience is shared and understood.”

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the body can no longer produce enough insulin to regulate sugar levels in the blood. Those with the condition must inject themselves with insulin and monitor their glucose levels daily.

Those wishing to meet the contributors behind the project can come along to a late open on Friday the 15th of July. The free event starts at 7 pm and will celebrate the fantastic work of the individuals involved, with all welcome to attend.

You can find out more about the exhibition on Eventbrite.
