According to recent reports, services for children and young people who have diabetes are variable throughout the UK.
A government report on the Diabetes National Service Framework indicates that to correct diabetes management amongst children and young people a number of significant challenges need to be addressed.
The report apparently commented: “Although service provision for children and young people has improved significantly, current diabetes care can be variable and does not always meet the needs of this very special group.”
According to the report, emotional and psychological support needs to be improved for young people with diabetes in the UK.
