According to reports, a research plan previously reported in the diabetic news is going ahead. The plan will involve a trans-Atlantic collaboration between a US based clinical researcher and Indian experts.
Neal Barnard, based in American, has found that a vegan diet is particularly effective in diabetes treatment . A vegan diet blocks milk and all other dairy products from the diet, as well as meat and fish. According to Barnard, the diet controls blood sugar up to three times more effectively than a standard diabetes diet .
The latest study, in India, involved just under 100 type 2 diabetics . The research, which was funded by the National Institutes of Health, proves that eating a vegan diet is more effective than using medication in keeping blood sugar levels stable.
